Really well researched and written biog - covers some uncomfortable areas, not just a happy days form a band book.
Not seen the film yet, but even if you have, you should probably own this book.

This book about Ian Dury's life is a fascinating read, thoroughly enjoyable, an inside outside biography on Ian's outragious life,his music, relationships with women, and band members, It's book you cannot put down too quickly, just want to keep reading it. Richard Balls is a very good writer. Thank you for a good read !

Well researched if somewhat sychophantic look into the life of ID. No stone unturned. This also sets the scene well for ID's entry to the music scene and effect on it. Also, his (unknown to me) time after the blockheads. Made me go out and buy "New Boots" again 20 years on. Well worth reading.

Life of a Musical Genius
I enjoyed most of the book except for the details of the songs. I think all the detail detracted from the actual story.
