This book has to be the best sewing book I've found, I was after a something that would help me through some of my more challenging projects. This book has everything you need whether you're new to sewing or experienced, from all the basics, to more advance in tailoring, soft furnishings etc.

Straight forward explanations and clear diagram's make this this book easy to follow.

In my opinion, a copy should be in every sewers kit !

This was certainly useful as I knew nothing about sewing but I found the emphasis quite skewed. This lady has a wierd taste for craft things, and gives a lot more attention (and illustration) to stuff like making a greeting card covered in buttons than useful things like taking up a hem and or taking in a waist band. Also references that refer to chapters rather than page numbers make it a bit tedious. It's not bad, but I'm sure there's something better out there.

This book is perfect for me, and probably loads of others. I've never done proper sewing before, and have never touched a sewing machine, but since buying this book, i have done both more than 3 times! (Hey, it's a breakthrough for me!) I have since made a shift dress, a simple skirt and have fixed ripped clothes, sewn on buttons and loads more with the help of this extremely handy book. It's just what I've been needing!
