Put machine stitching and contemporary together and you get Sew wild. Creating stitch with mixed media techniques, the author shows you how to print your own fabric in several different ways, then shows you how to stitch to create a unique look. Some of the projects and techniques look a bit messy for my taste and far too much black stitching but there are plenty of good ideas in this book for the younger end of the market. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

I recently discovered Alisa's blog and I couldn't wait to get my hand on her book, and it didn't disappoint, the is well laid out, the techniques explained in great level of details and most important her projects are based on things you are likely to have around the house or that you can make yourself. The added bonus of the DVD for those to whom pictures are not enough is great.
She encourages the reader to have a go and have fun and certainly she creates that buzz. If you can use a sewing machine (you don't have to be a seamstress) and doodle some shapes you can use the book to create a range of prints you can use for your projects. This book will be a source of inspiration.

Wow! This is the best craft book I've bought this year. It arrived today and I've already read the whole thing.
It's just so simple and clear and encouraging. I love that you probably have the stuff already to get started because the author doesn't recommend special materials. Really can't wait till I have time to play.
