I bought this book together with the authors' "other book" - Prints Charming. Do not make the same mistake and don't buy them together - this is just one book under two different names, which I honestly don't understand why. I will give one away as a present, so no money wasted, but this is not okay - if a book retains the same content it should not be published under a new name, but as a second edition.

Anyway - due to its contents the book is worth buying. Again - get the one that is cheaper as all the projects, layout, text, and graphic are identical. I like the authors' style - it is inspired, as they confess, by Marimekko, and I would also add that by Ikea and Scandinavian design in general. The basics are explained very well, especially the screen-printing bit - a very simplified method of screen printing is applied here, interesting and I am tempted to try straigh away. The sewing part of the projects is not complicated so if you are intermediate at sewing you will excell and if you are beginner you will be able to make it. There are lots of useful and easy-to-understand information, hints, and tips.

There are pretty projects for the home and for children - here I must emphasize that not only for girls as tends to be the rule in sewing books - you will find nice, bold, and playful stuff for boys too.

I will definitely use this book as a source of inspiration.

Sewing projects perfect for beginners 30 Nov. 2010
By Alexa - Published on
Format: Paperback
Nicely done book. The photos are lovely, the projects are easily doable, and the options to customize them by using simple embellishments and printing techniques make them even more appealing since they can look different every time. The book comes with pattern sheets that you need to trace, but overall I highly recommend this book for any beginner sewer.

I adore this book as it is unique, original, and refreshing. Flipping the pages makes me want to start stitching or printing and I wish I lived in Australia so I can take their workshop! I have been away from quilt making for some years but I definitely want to make one with handprinted fabrics and hand embroidery in the near future. Pretty book just to browse as well.
