Product Description

Product Description

Make delicious yoghurt in your own home with the SEVERIN Yoghurt maker. Preparation is simple: just combine milk with a yoghurt starter culture (available from supermarkets and health food stores), pour into the glass pots, place into the yoghurt maker and switch on. The mixture is gently heated to the perfect temperature to create beautifully creamy yoghurt. The yoghurt will set after 6-12 hours (depending on milk used and desired thickness). The appliance has a handy indicator to remind you how many hours have elapsed.

When ready, chill in the fridge then add your choice of fruits, nuts or jams and enjoy. You can also use Soya or UHT milk. Don’t pay over the odds for shop-bought yoghurt, invest in this handy appliance and prepare delicious yoghurt exactly to your taste. Designed in Germany, this SEVERIN product is guaranteed with a 2 year warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars you dont need a timer, just a shaver plug! 14 Jun 2010
By gadget girl TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
this little yoghurt maker is great ,the jars are just the right size per portion there is no milk boiling (room temperature works fine) the first batch i made was done in 4 hours. you can use the easi yo sachets as well and it does much quicker. to be honest a timer wouldnt be appropriate as each batch takes a different amount of time depending on start temperature and conditions and you can easily see when the youghurt is done or just leave over night .The only reason this didnt get 5 stars was the fact it comes with a 2 pin plug and the first thing i had to do was go out and get a shver plug so i could use it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Enabler, Maybe Not Great Itself 16 May 2010
Firstly, a caveat, the yoghurt this makes is delicious and it gets to the point that buying yoghurt seems as alien to you as the idea of buying sliced bread does once you have a breadmaker. Secondly, the Yoghurt maker does everything you could reasonably expect of it: it is sturdily made, shows you when it is active, is reasonably insulated so you can place it on surfaces without fear of heat damage and the jars themselves are conveniently sized (even if seven of them does seem a little odd).

The multi-lingual instruction book included with the maker is simple enough to understand and will soon get you on your way to making your own yoghurt. my only real reservation is in the strange printed dial on the lid of the maker: it really serves no purpose apart from to give you a broad indication of when you started your batch. It makes you think that an actual timer that actually turned the maker off would be far more desirable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cracking little machine !! 3 July 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
I had been looking for an electric yoghurt maker to replace the flask and powder one that I had bought some years ago. This machine is a little cracker, it dosent take up much space on the worktop and is simple to use. The Instruction Book that came with it is next to useless but I did buy a Home Dairying Book at the same time so used the yoghurt recipe from this with excellent results. A down side is that there is no timer to the machine but I got round this by using the oven timer which does the job a treat.

I have seen some comments on reviews about getting a thermometer that actually goes down to 30C as the Jam/General kitchen ones start at 50C, my advice on this is to buy a digital probe, make sure it has both C Degrees and F Degrees, these go down to around minus 40C and work as well if not better than the standard ones.

I have also seen comments saying that the Instruction Book does not say when to add fruit etc, it does tell you to add the fruit as soon as the jars come out of the machine at the end of incubation and before you chill them in the fridge although it is only one sentence at the bottom of the limited instructions.

My advice to anyone buying this yoghurt maker is to invest in a good Home Dairying book and follow the yoghurt recipes from this instead of trying to understand the machine book.

Easy to use, and does exactly what it should. While not having a timer suits me as I need to let the yogurts ferment for 24 hrs due to dietery requirements, this may not suit some... Read more

I bought this after having seen it at my brother's and tried the end product. It is so simple to use, but the instructions are quite minimal.

Good product but the screw on tops don't fit tight enough. This leaves the yoghurt prone to becoming sour sooner than my previous jars, which had push on lids. Read more
