Book Description

Seventiestyle is a fascinating and colourful guide to all
aspects of decoration and design in the 1970s home. Packed with full colour
illustrations and photographs, the book shows the choices available to
consumers during this period.

David Heathcote has drawn on MoDA's extensive collection of retail and
trade catalogues, domestic magazines and household manuals to produce a
vibrant and beautifully illustrated guide to the 1970s interior.

No other guide is as comprehensive in its coverage of the features of a
home. Detailed sections include bathrooms and kitchens; fixtures and
fittings; furniture; wallpapers and paints; carpets, furnishing fabrics;
lighting; fireplaces and heating; and finishing touches. Each area is
covered in comprehensive detail in a way that is highly informative while
at the same time hugely enjoyable to read.

Other books in the series include Sixtiestyle, Fiftiestyle, Thirtiestyle
and Turn of the Century Style.

Perfect little book 8 Dec 2009
By AML
Format:Paperback
Like the other three books in the series, Seventiestyle is extremely well composed and pretty captivating. The book itself can, of course, only be an introduction to the period - but it does this extremely well, covering a particularly broad spectrum of interior design and with an evident level of expertise that means it does not ever resort to cliched interpretations of the era or idealised 'retro' images of the period. This is a well-illustrated, well-written volume that looks at domestic design across different social classes and income ranges, as well as exploring how the design of the early seventies differed quite markedly from that later in the decade.

This is a great little book - good value, great picture, fun to read. Recommend the whole series, even if it is only one decade you are interested in.
