Product Description

Review

I had always been a skeptic of the church of personal peace and prosperity of righteous people standing in a holy huddle while the world rages outside the stained glass. But Ive learned that there are many people of the cloth who are also in the world from debt cancellation to the fight against AIDS and for human rights they are on the march. Jim Wallis isnt just part of this movement hes out front carrying a bullhorn. --Bono, U2

Product Description

Following on from the New York Times bestselling God's Politics, Jim Wallis's Seven Ways to Change the World speaks to a people hungry for a politics of solutions and hope. It offers a plan for solving some of the biggest issues of our time: poverty and economic justice, global warming, HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, genocide and the ethics of war. Rather than reciting a laundry list of doom and dread, Wallis identifies seven basic commitments for political involvement that could make the ultimate difference in resolving the great challenges we face. For too long, he says, ideological religion has been part of the problem, but now an engaged spirituality could be a part of the solutions. Writing out of the US context, his message has universal resonance, reminding us of the 'common good' that lies at the heart of social reform. Seven Ways to Change the World will help us to rediscover our moral centre and infuse us with the inspiration and passion necessary to build the kinds of movement that transform politics from the outside in.

4.0 out of 5 stars Jim's done it again!, 12 Jun 2008
Yet again, Jim Wallis pulls no punches about what is required from religious, political leaders, the church and society in general, to change the world and save it from its present downward spiral. His clear analysis of the failure of our politicians and, to some extent, the church, leaves no one in doubt as to the challenge ahead. I was challenged to seriously reflect and think about what my role should be in this world. Jim Wallis provides the antidote in clear and user-friendly language. He challenges the left and the right side of the political spectrum to put down their ideological weapons and arrive at a common ground, in partnership with church and society in advocating for equality, fairness and social justice. He provides us with a road map of how faith can be effectively infused with political and social action in the fight against injustice and inequality.

If you have a passion for transformational change and are ready for action, this book is a must-have!
