Book Description

4 Aug 2003
When Rachel Buckley announces that she is going to get married, her best friends Yaslyn and Carrie Ann can't wait to give her a proper send-off. No second-rate male stripper in a smoky bar for Rachel though. The girls choose instead to take a 'hen week' in Turkey, in the all-inclusive surroundings of luxurious holiday resort.

It should be the perfect trip. But all three girls are bringing along more than their luggage. While Rachel looks forward to her wedding day with excitement, Carrie Ann wonders why the pain of her abusive marriage didn't end when the decree nisi arrived and Yaslyn considers the possibility that she might never be ready to marry her patient boyfriend Euan.

Add unlimited free cocktails, rampant reps and a nasty dose of sunstroke and suddenly 'getting away from it all' comes dangerously close to 'going back to nothing'. Can three firm friendships survive just seven sunny days?

Review

'Very funny, hugely feel-good and the perfect antidote for anyone who worries that the only career ladder they've achieved is a run in their tights' (Fiona Walker on Lizzie Jordan's Secret Life )

'It's a great idea for a plot, and Manby's writing more than does it justice' (Marie Claire on Getting Personal )

'A funny first novel . . . that's more realistic than Friends, cleaner than The Young Ones and not as frightening as Shallow Grave' (Daily Mail on Flatmates )

'Manby's hilarious novels still shine out on the sea of chick lit, and if you want to guarantee a good giggle by the pool this summer her latest unique offering, featuring three feisty girls off on a luxury hen holiday, is the perfect sunbathing companion.' - OK Magazine

'A fun summer read' - Daily Express

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for holiday reading 18 Oct 2003
By Kirsty
Format:Hardcover
As a fan of Chris Manby after reading 'Lizzie Jordans secret life' and thoroughly enjoying that i looked forward to reading the latest novel from her. 'Seven Sunny days' didn't disppoint despite being slightly different from her other novels such as 'Running away from Richard' and 'Getting personal' as it featured people seperately and it wasnt all interlinked. The plot centers on Rachel, the bride to be who feels that her mother in law is taking over her marriage plans, Yaslyn the beautiful ex model who has the same insecurities as the rest of us and Carrie Ann, who is getting over her divorce, who all go on a hen week holiday to Turkey, however it doesnt all go exactly to plan when they have a slight fall out! Other charcters who feature in the book are the holiday reps Giles the handsome tennis rep who trys to seduce all the ladies but not always successfully! All in all a top novel very funny and a must read for manby fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read! 17 July 2008
Format:Paperback
I absolutely LOVED this book! I have never related to the characters so much in a book as I did this one, it is a fab book! All the characters have got something going on in their lives, and all find themselves on holiday in the same place where they realise things about themselved! Absolutely loved this book! Am glad I brought it!

I was really dissapointed with this book. I didnt warm to or care about any of the characters, some off them seemed unecessary and added nothing to the pretty non-existent plot. Read more
