Marlene plays one of those Sadie Thompson parts - she is Blanch who has been deported from every island in the south seas. She ends up at the Seven Sinners Cafe where she falls ih love with a handsome sailor played by Wayne and gets to sing a couple of greaty Frank Loesser songs, I've Been in Love Before, and dressed appropriately, The Man's in the Navy. He is, of course, too young, too innocent, and too devoted to the sea for the affair to prosper - his first love is the Navy. But while her heart is broken she is a survivor. Once again Mischa Auer has a lovely timne playing a rogue and there are a splendid punch up for Wayne to - or his stand in - to take part in at the end. They actually made two films together and are not ideal pairing but it works.
