This book leads you on a journey to discover who you are in life so that you can enter birth and parenting with a new awareness and in a relaxed state that will open the experience up to being joyous. --Eva - Amazon Reviews

Dominique's wealth of experience of supporting women and their partners through the journey of pregnancy and birth has been offered to us in a way that brings us to our own truth. As we are guided gently and supportively through this book we recognise Dominique's deep trust in the process of pregnancy and birth can be shared by everyone.I also recommend this fantastic book to all doulas and midwives supporting pregnant women. --Amanda - Amazon Reviews

A call to a woman to take responsibility for her emotions and decisions and a practical means to support her in doing this. It is definitely not another pregnancy 'how to' book. It is, instead, a valuable means to being at greater comfort with herself so that each woman can experience the pregnancy and birth that is appropriate for her and her baby. --April - Amazon Reviews

Product Description

A wise and informative guide to preparing emotionally and psychologically for birth and early parenting.

Working through the seven secrets is a brilliant way to address the deeper issues within yourself in a safe and simple way. It will free you to enjoy the unfolding, the transformation, the growing that is happening inside you. This process never stops in life. Yet in pregnancy it happens so profoundly and intensely as we integrate enormous changes, in our bodies, our feelings and our relationships in a relatively short span of time. Each of you – mother, father and baby – has a different set of challenges. The baby to be born from the womb into the world, the mother to be the giver of birth and the nurturer, the father to be the companion and protector, couple or single parent to become a healthy loving family.

In this book Dominique Sakoilsky will help you to identify your own particular challenges. She will also give you all the practical guidance you need and an understanding of how birth happens, the amazing hormonal physiology that underlies the natural process in us humans, just as it does in other mammals.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for every expectant couple 1 Jun 2012
By Eva
Format:Paperback
There are many books on pregnancy and birth that talk about the practical things you will encounter when yoo are having a baby, but none that give you an understanding of how your emotions and beliefs shape the way you birth and parent in the way that this book does. When I read it I was struck by the application of the 7 words in everyone's life, not just those that are pregant because how you are in life is how you are in birth and parenting. This book leads you on a journey to discover who you are in life so that you can enter birth and parenting with a new awareness and in a relaxed state that will open the experience up to being joyous.

The book has a fantastic question and answer section that couple can do together and will enlighten your relationship of one another at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars A new approach to pregnancy and childbirth 27 July 2012
By Alice
Format:Kindle Edition
The best thing about 7 Secrets of a Joyful Birth is that it doesn't preach. Unlike so many books out there aimed at pregnant women, it doesn't take the moral high ground about the `best' way to do things. Instead, in an easy and accessible style, Sakoilsky invites women and their partners to reflect on how pregnancy is for them through a system of 7 areas of experience. These `7 words' are not prescriptive. Rather they provide a radically different way of thinking about childbirth with the emphasis thrown back on the woman to create meaning and find a way of following her heart and intuition about what is best for her.
The result is a book full of personal experience, helpful ideas and useful information which can help to build up the confidence to follow one's own path. The author draws on a wealth of knowledge from many years of working in the field. It will be useful not only to pregnant women but also to midwives, doulas and others working in the area of childbirth looking for inspiration. There are also some lovely photos.
