Product Description

Once upon a time Ruby O'Neill lived in her very own ivory tower (a beautiful little cottage) with her very own fairytale prince (her handsome husband Jonathan). She had roses round her door and her friends were never far away - life in her fairytale land was perfect.

But grown-up fairy stories don't last forever and one dark night Ruby's life is smashed into a million pieces. With her castle in the air destroyed and her heart broken, she swears she will never love again. Yet guardian angels hide in the strangest places and from Ruby's darkest night, six magical secrets slowly emerge to show her life is for living and that tomorrow is not too late for love. But who is the mysterious stranger who holds the seventh secret, the hardest one to find? And is he the person who holds the ultimate secret, the key to Ruby's frozen heart?

I might well be Sharon Owens' number 1 fan, but even I am amazed at just how beautiful, brilliant, believable and stunning this book is! I have read all of her other books (at least twice!) and was looking forward to this new one so much as Sharon is not one of those authors who churns out stereotypical and 'samey' books every couple of months. This story will strike a chord with anyone who has ever loved and lost (for whatever reason) and describes how much courage and strength it takes to rebuild a life when someone we love is taken from us. But don't be fooled into thinking that the plot and storyline is predictable and straightforward - far from it - and all the characters are so likeable and well drawn that I would love to meet them (and would definitely LOVE to browse round Ruby's shop and emerge a few quid lighter but with one of her gorgeous trinkets wrapped up in her divine carrier bags!). I have to be honest, I haven't yet finished the Seven Secrets of Happiness - not because it is hard going or I'm wading through it reluctantly. It is simply that I want to savour Sharon's wonderful style of writing, her beautiful choice of words and the gorgeous images she brings to life in my mind's eye as I read. Part of me cannot wait to see what will happen to Ruby and Tom, Jasmine and Ruby's estranged parents, but another part of me will be so, so sorry to finish what has honestly been one of the best and most beautiful books I have ever read. And if there is an Eighth Secret of Happiness it is quite simply the joy I get from reading Sharon Owens' fabulous books and losing myself in the magic she creates for her readers.

I must agree with the previous reviewer, the only thing that is wrong with a Sharon Owens book is that it ends! With every novel you get to know the personable characters and their stories come to life. The characters are real as are their stories and you follow them through the book like they were a good friend. There is no cliche writing to be found, Sharon's writing is clever, honest and whitty and doesn't have to rely on them. The Seven Secrets of Happiness is again another page turner, therefore make sure you have a pot of tea ready when you sit down with this novel. This book will definately be given for Christmas presents this year as the others have in previous years.

I love all of Sharon Owen's books, but this one was really special. I love stories that have a little element of something magical without overdoing it. I have to admit, this book made me cry abit, but the characters were fantastic and i appreciate that it ends well. The storyline is lovely as well. Read this!!!
