DJ Cams back with a Moody, introspective sound often quite sparely accented and with a bit of a brooding, cinematic ambient feel to it.
It still has the jazzy/soul/hip-hop/trip-hop vibe inflections he made his name on in the mid 90's and onward from there!
The jazzy style kicks in about a quarter of the way in on the track LOVE featuring vocals by Nicolette, but the majority of the album has a more haunting, hypnotic mood. Stand out tracks are "Swim featuring Chris James, title track Seven, Ghost and Uncomfortable both featuring vocals of Chris James.
If you like chillout cinematic trip-hop with a soul vibe, this ones for you, a very good album from the Parisian abstract maestro known as DJ Cam.....

DJ Cam ‎– Seven 14 Dec. 2013
By scoundrel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
DJ Cam's seventh album, SEVEN, starts with the jazzy downtempo funk of "California Dreamin," which has hints of his classic album SUBSTANCES. The dark thrum on "Dreamcatcher" leads into an 80s-style soundscape, though the track goes belly-up when the sample loops in. The title track works better in this regard, maintaining its mood throughout, and the jazz of "Fontainebleau" lends itself to romance, while "A Loop" shows off more of Cam's hip-hop side. Nicolette lends her voice to "Love," which dominates the track; InLove works better with the string-laden electro of "1988," Cam also recruits Chris James from Stateless to provide vocals, which adds a aching emotional bent to "Swim" or some sad funk with "Ghost." A nice return to form.
Back and dope as ever 2 Dec. 2013

I am a long time dj Cam fan, and I had expected Cam to ride off into the sunset doing his chill jazz dj Cam Quartet project, but this album is a perfect summation of his career with elements of trip-hop, French touch, electronica, jazz and of course hip-hop. Well worth owning.
