By
B. G. Strand "strandbg" (England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Seurat (World of Art) (Paperback)
John Russell's learned analysis of this unique 19th century painter who despite a tragically short life 'created something new,a kind of painting that was my own' as Georges later commented.A readable artistic biography with an extensive chapter on his major work 'Grand Jatte',the painting that confirmed Seurat's deserved reputation as an innovator of artistic endeavour. With over 225 illustrations a valuable addition to the history of art.
