Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
Claudie Gallay again has an intriguing story. Beautifully written about a French woman reaching 40 suddenly finds herself alone when the man she loved leaves her. Devastated she empties her bank account, leaves France and finds herself in Venice wintertime, off season. The backdrop of Venice, the dampness, her finding her way round the little alleyways etc all add to a slow recognition. Wonderful book about someone who has lost their identity, who is nameless and depressed only to find that slowly she is involved with those around.
