5.0 out of 5 stars simply great stuff 9 July 2012
By Dreamtiger - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
There are many great live recordings of Elvis from the 50's, 60's and 70's. The most interesting ones are from the 50's. Elvis was raw, raunchy and pure energy when he was on the '50 stage. These live recordings captured Elvis in his primeval best. While the 56's studio versions are super in every sense of the word hearing Elvis live on the stage is even better. This is truly Elvis. The song selections are good particularly the songs from his Sun days one being unreleased. I recommend it simply because Elvis 50's live recordings remind us why we love him. The front cover art should have been a better one. There are many unreleased photos they could have choose from Elvis posthumously photo file. Although, it should not be everyone's playlist but Elvis in the 50's whether it live or studio recording is still undeniable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic history as I experienced it; a treasure! 14 Nov 2012
By devoted reader - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
In the fall of 1956, I was a pre-teen and when Elvis came to the awareness of my female classmates and me, we were carried away. So this album means a lot to me because it's Elvis as I first experienced him.

Also, I adore live performances of music. Yes, it's true that in these recordings from the Fairground, even remastered, sometimes there's microphone whine -- but, you see, I go wild for that type of thing because it's as if I were there in person in 1956.

What a treasure to hear Elvis talking to the crowd, in the voice and manner he had early in his career.

I was thrilled when I had the chance to listen to all of this album - and now, I get to buy it "for keeps" as we said in 1956.

1.0 out of 5 stars Tried to return it, Amazon just gave it to me. 2 Aug 2012

I love Elvis! Absolutely ADORE everything about the man, his looks, his voice, those eyes........... There has NEVER been an album that I hated so much I didn't want it, well......... NEVER say NEVER!!! This came yesterday. I put the cd in my player, very excited........... and after listening to the beginnings of several tracks, gave up, I have NO desire to listen to any of this cd ever again, then got on my computer to return it. Amazon.com told me I was a good customer and to not bother with returning it, they refunded my money.
Sound quality on this sucks, it's horrible, and IMHO............ not worth listening to. Even though it's $6.99, save your $$. These "forgotten" or "lost" recordings should have stayed where they were. People trying to squeeze every last penny out of Elvis fans should give up. If it hasn't been released by now........... what, almost 60 years later...... there's a DAMN good reason.
