Product Description

Amazon.co.uk

Never had an ice cream sandwich? In that case you haven’t lived. Forget your fancy gourmet tartlet’s and soufflés, ice cream sandwiches are the dessert for the connoisseur. My childhood is scattered with memories of watching Mum in the kitchen spreading an ample splodge of Neapolitan or good old vanilla between two chocolate digestives. Then, sandwich in hand, hot footing it back to the TV to watch the A-Team escape another tight scrape using their engineering skills to construct an armored vehicle or some impromptu weaponry.

These little ice cream sandwich moulds take it to a new level because you can make your own little shapes!! If only I could have my childhood back. Ok it’s not the healthiest dessert in the world, but as long as you don’t have it everyday it’s good fun and much cheaper than any of those chocolate bar/ice cream hybrids that seem to have taken over the frozen food aisle. Buy one and you won’t regret it!!"--James Quick, Amazon.co.uk

Product Description

Never had an ice cream sandwich? In that case you haven't lived. Forget your fancy gourmet tartlet's and soufflés, ice cream sandwiches are the dessert for the connoisseur. My childhood is scattered with memories of watching Mum in the kitchen spreading an ample splodge of Neapolitan or good old vanilla between two chocolate digestives. Then, sandwich in hand, hot footing it back to the TV to watch the A-Team escape another tight scrape.

These little ice cream sandwich moulds take it to a new level because you can make your own little shapes!! If only I could have my childhood back. Ok it's not the healthiest dessert in the world, but as long as you don't have it everyday it's good fun and much cheaper than any of those chocolate bar/ice cream hybrids that seem to have taken over the frozen food aisle. Buy one and you won't regret it!!

Manufacturer's Description Tovolo bring fun and colour to the kitchen with a range of highly efficient tools and gadgets. The designers at Tovolo spend hours thinking about the development of every product so you need never think about them at all.

The ice cream sandwich moulds are tough and robust, and will give you years of use.

Simply create 2 cut outs from a cookie base using the body of the mould. Place one cookie in the bottom of the mould, top up with ice cream then place the other cut out on top. You can now push the top down which will force the completed ice cream sandwich out with the top imprinted.

It's as easy as that and great fun!!!

Hint: With just a quick press everyday foods get a whimsical makeover! Rice easily becomes the star of the meal, or press through ice cream alone to create a heart as a lovely substitution for the boring old scoop.

The moulds work best with soft chewy cookies which can be bought ready to eat from the supermarket or baked at home

Ok, i know I gave this 5 stars and just bought it, but it looks amazing!!! However, i DO need help with the cookie part... Can anyone share a good, chewy cookie recipe? There isn't a cookie I can think of in the supermarket (i live in Portugal) which would be soft and chewy enough... Cake also occurred to me (when it's a few days old)... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Adorable and Well Designed 8 July 2008
By Christian C. Benito - Published on Amazon.com
I bought these molds on a whim. They were cute and I wanted to make some ice cream sandwiches. I bought two sets, but when I got them and read the instructions, I was a bit worried that I really didn't need both of them.

My wife and I split up the work. I made ice cream a couple days in advance. Then she made a sheet of cookie. While the cookie sheet was cooling, I used the molds to cut out the cookie shapes (2 per sandwich) and imprint the little animal faces. Once the cookies were cool and the we had softened up the ice cream in the refrigerator, she placed a cookie at the bottom of each of the assembled molds (suddenly we were happy to have extras). I filled them with ice cream, placed a second cookie on top and then used the top to gently squeeze each sandwich until the ice cream filled out to the edges of the mold (the molds are translucent, so it's easy to see when you've squeezed enough). Then I popped the sandwich out the bottom and she wrapped them in cellophane. Repeat until done.

Now we have a freezer full of adorable little ice cream sandwiches that we can't wait to eat! I can't recommend these molds enough. I had been worried that our first attempt would be marred by mistakes and unseen difficulties, but we followed the instructions and they worked perfectly!

Make Nostalgic Quick Treats 15 Aug 2008
By Erin E. Nichols - Published on Amazon.com
With the assistance of these cute contraptions making ice cream sandwiches becomes incredibly easy. You begin by baking your favorite soft and chewy cookie recipe. Next, you allow them to cool slightly before cutting out the cookies with whichever shape you decide to use. This kit comes with a heart, star, and a squircle. I'm not making that up. They actually refer to the odd shaped mold as a "squircle." There's also a kit that comes with animal shapes (a chicken, cow, and pig) if that's more your style. After cutting out your cookie shapes let them cool completely on a wire rack. Finally, assemble the cookies by placing one cookie in the mold, adding a scoop of ice cream, topping with an additional cookie, and firmly applying pressure with the cookie press. Voila! A cute ice cream sandwich is born. If you aren't going to eat the treats immediately you'll definitely want to place them in the freezer as they start to melt quickly.

I can definitely imagine using something like this for a child's slumber party, birthday party, or even as an interactive end to a grown-up dinner party. Just bake the cookie shapes ahead of time and set out the molds, ice cream, and bowls of sprinkles for your guests to use.

Very useful, easy to clean! 1 Dec 2008

I use these primarily to make cute shaped onigiri and hard boiled eggs for my husband and my lunches. They're super easy to use and they come apart into 3 pieces making it very easy to clean and very easy to get your shaped food out. They are sturdy and the shapes are cute and pretty large. I have no complaints!
