First off I love ellen, this is the first book of hers I have read, I have bought her wife Portias book and Ellen's second book "The Funny Thing Is...".

There's so much I want to say about this book. Firstly it's VERY funny, I laughed out loud ALOT. And as I watch Ellen's show on Really Channel in UK every day Mon-Fri It's like I can hear her voice saying what I'm reading.

I can imagine how she's saying them as I'm reading the words. This book is intended to make you laugh, it's got so much relatable comments in it. Some of the content was taken from her monologues on her show, but they still make me laugh! For example the joke about intercomming the cat, Charlie.

Ellen is my inspiration so I guess it's bias for me to write this review, but if I read it not knowing who she was or anything about her...I would've still found this the funniest book ever.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants a book which will make them laugh, smile and think "That's so true!". This book is not an autobiography of sorts, it is written by Ellen but its not a story of her life from beginning to now...it's about her experiences, advice and making you laugh.

PLEASE PLEASE read this book people! I love Ellen so much and she deserves more of a British fan base because she's the kindest sweetest people on Earth. Spread the word! Hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.

Finish with words of ellen: be kind to one another, bye.

This book like her others made me laugh out loud in many places. She manages to make everyday life very funny. In this book she catches up on whats gone on since her last book. She talks about her show and being a judge on American idol. This is a book no fan should be without and if you are new to ellen she will make you laugh and want to read her other books which you should do because they are just as funny. Ellen is a great comedian who knows just how to tickle your funny bone a lot

Ellen is great and an inspiration to lots of ladies . I could hear her great sence of humour shining through at times. I did think she was struggling to fill the pages,so filled it with any old crap.
Sorry Ellen, not your best work I,m afraid.

I am a huge Ellen Degeneres fan, I waste countless hours in the evening watching videos on youtube, laughing my head off and I record her TV show every day so I don't miss it whilst at work. She has such a bubbly life force and an amazing heart. She is so generous and caring, I love her spirit.
She mentioned this book on her show a couple of times and it sounded good so I put a request in at the library. It actually came in pretty quick and as it is only 241 pages I knew it would be a quick read.
This isn't really an autobiography, it's more a book of anecdotes and jokes. Some pages have a couple of words on, some are proper chapters. I knew the book was more 'wit and humour' before I started so I knew what to expect. I've seen some reviews that have said they were disappointed as they expected more information about her life, but if you take this book for what it is, it's actually enjoyable and funny in places. I didn't laugh as much as I hoped I would but it certainly has Ellen's charm. You can certainly tell she wrote it.
I read it in a couple of hours and didn't want to put it down. It doesn't really tell you anything vital but it's amusing and perfect for fans.
Good for a lazy day read if you want something quite light.

This is a Christmas present for my daughter. I took it from her Amazon wish list. I had a peek at it when I packed it and thought I would buy it myself.

In Seriously… I’m Kidding, Ellen takes us on a journey through her world in the spotlight and her innermost weird thoughts. She describes situations that are too strange to be true and more than once makes us laugh out very (!) loud. So be careful if you are in public. Let’s just hope you don’t read on an e-reader or listen to the audiobook. People can’t see what you’re reading, you know.

Unfortunately, there are chapters in this book that are less fun and, to be honest, quite boring. I had the feeling that those chapters were just there to fill up the pages. I don’t know about you, but I’d rather read a book that’s short and fun than long and boring.

As you can see, I have mixed feelings about Seriously… I’m Kidding. But as this book isn’t a novel, you could just skip the boring chapters as soon as you notice they get boring. I did read them all though. I’d say Seriously… I’m Kidding is a book for the quick laugh on a train, in the bathroom, or waiting for your doctor’s appointment. It’ll be like Ellen is right there with you, if you want to listen to her stories, or not.

I love Ellen down to the ground. I try to watch every of her show. I was so looking forward to read this book. However I think it's not as great as I was expected. Some parts seems a bit too cheeky and some of the jokes she told in the show. So I was a little bit disappointed. It still good, still funny, don't get me wrong. I think I just had expected too much. I still love Ellen anyway!

Every one on the planet knows who Ellen is and how funny she is. This book is everything you would expect it to be. Have to say though, at times I wasn't sure of she was taking the piss or not. I sure don't believe most of it any way. I think it was all for laughs, maybe I'm wrong, but at least the laughs were there. If you're looking for her personal life and 'real-life' moments, keep looking. You will be sorely disappointed if you're looking for a glimpse into her life or what makes her tick. This book is nothing but laughs and some insanity. That's entertainment though.
I flew through this pretty fast, because it was hilarious. It was exactly what I needed at the time.

3.5/5
