Book Description

24 Mar 2010 Seriously Funny (Book 1)
A little while ago, concerned that the next time they got together, one of them would be in a coffin, Jeff Lucas and Adrian Plass decided to start exchanging letters - and this book is the result.

Breathtakingly honest, Seriously Funny is a celebration of 21st century Christianity - as well as a no-holds barred expose of its sillier side. And they are equally hard on themselves - their most embarrassing moments are a joy to read.

About the Author

Author and speaker Jeff Lucas travels internationally in a ministry of Bible teaching which carries a specific vision to encourage and equip the church. Originally a church planting pastor, Jeff understands the dynamics of local church life and has a desire to "build" rather than simply "bless" as he teaches and preaches. His ministry is expressed in a number of different ways. He is part of the leadership team of Spring Harvest, an annual teaching and worship conference that gathers thousands and exists to equip the church for action. He serves on the board of Christianity, Youthwork, and Christian Marketplace magazines. Jeff is the author of fourteen books, as well as a number of study guides, booklets and a DVD teaching series called ‘Life Journeys". Jeff’s books have been translated into French, Italian, Korean, Dutch and German. He writes a monthly column for Christianity Magazine, as well as daily Bible notes for CWR (Crusade for World Revival) - "Lucas on Life Every Day". He broadcasts three weekly radio shows - In Good Company, and Lucas on Life on Premier Radio, and Lucas on Life: daily thoughts on UCB Radio. Use of the programming by various affiliates means that he is heard daily on over 350 radio stations worldwide, including Europe, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. He is an ambassador for Compassion, a charity working to help children in poverty worldwide. Jeff and Kay live in Loveland, Colorado, where he holds a teaching post at Timberline Church, Fort Collins.

5.0 out of 5 stars A seriously funny great read 6 May 2010
Format:Paperback
Like everyone else who has posted reviews, I found this book such a help. It is so good to know that the things you have thought about Christianity are now in print!! We need, as Christians, to be able to laugh at ourselves; Plass and Lucas have enabled us to do this for several years now. So, to get them together to write a book is a joy. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be serious about their faith, but wants to (re)capture the joy of being a Christian and perhaps rediscover the ability to laugh out loud.

5.0 out of 5 stars view from the editor 4 May 2010
Format:Paperback
I got to read this book first, after the authors, and I really enjoyed it. I know it is a cliche to say it made me laugh and it made me cry but both are true - and it made me cry while travelling on a train, which I could have done without. Jeff and Adrian are honest, and their honesty is a breath of fresh air. They are funny - there are bits I love to reread, just because they make me laugh. But beyond that is the fact that so much of what they say is illuminating and encouraging. You do get the sense of 'I'm not the only one who thinks/feels/acts like that'. Both men know that God is great and they are not. As a book for disciples who fail, this is essential.
