I was writing some short stories for fun about serial killers and decided to read this book a couple of years ago to learn more about the various serial killers that have terrorized people over the years. Peter Vronsky had two fringe experiences with serial killers, which inspired him to write this book. He was even brushed by a duffel bag that contained two severed heads!
This book is laid out well. Vronksy details the exploits of many of the well-known murderers, such as the Boston Stranger and Charles Manson. He also writes about lesser-known serial killers, many of which I had never heard of. He'll briefly outline their lives, their crimes, their investigation, and their punishment if they were caught. He'll pepper his prose with interview quotations.
It's a great beginning overview of the major and minor serial killers (mainly American) and is a must-read if you are fascinated by reading about those who choose to prey on other humans.
