Inoffensive Fun 14 July 2007
Format:DVD
Seoul Raiders is the sequel to the fluffy but fun Chinese Lunar New Year hit 'Tokyo Raiders'. Tony Leung Chiu Wai is back as super spy Lam although in this outing he is no longer just a member of the Japanese Secret Service, he is the Head of Asia at Interpol. That is about the only difference between Seoul Raiders and Tokyo Raiders.

He still has his easy on the eye female assistants (although they are Korean now instead of Japanese, what with the hijinx being transplanted to Seoul), he still starts the film pretending to be something and suddenly revealing half way through that he is a spy (not much of a shock for anyone who has seen the first film!) and there are even some of the same jokes used in this outing.

Normally these would be quite harsh criticisms but noone involved with this film seems to take it any more seriously than it deserves. This is fun, fluffy, cheesy escapist action-comedy with a nice comedic turn from Tony Leung, a good 'straight-man' performance from Richie Yen and Shu Qi looking very pretty. It has some nice jokes, some good set pieces and will probably entertain you for 90 minutes.

I think this film would be very accessible to those who don't normally watch foreign cinema as it's very mainstream and fun. Possibly not one for Hong Kong film buffs but enjoyable none the less.

Shu Qi ^^ 5 Jan 2011
Format:DVD
Well...to be honest...i only brought this movie for the fact it featured Shu Qi. But after watching it i found the acting pretty good and it kept up its consistency through the whole movie...i found it funny and engrossing..and forgot about the reason why i first brought it......
although not a big fan of Tony...i thought he was good in this movie..and played his part well. Although this movie is no where near top asian martial arts action of Crouching tiger..or anything from legend Jackie Chan...its still a pretty good go...and the story line is not so bad either...which is strange for this genre......and..the best part of all...no tragic ending...Shu Qi was still alive at the end... great!

Great Sequel 24 Feb 2006
By mr. snrub - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
I was a fan of Tokyo Raiders, and was quite eager for a sequel, but didn't think there would be one. I was wrong on this count. I was also wrong that it would not be the kind of sequel that is much better than the original.

Like Tokyo Raiders, SEOUL RAIDERS has a plot that makes about as much sense as that of MISSION:IMPOSSIBLE. Something to do with Owen lee (Richie Jen)an American-born Chinese CIA agent who steals some counterfeit money plates and flees to Seoul, Korea, and this necessitates that Wushu master/ secret agentLam (Tony Leung) join forces with porfessional thief/babe J.J. (Shu Qi)call upon his three Korean angels (Choi Yeo-Jin, Cho Soo-Hyn, and Cho Han-Na)to get the plates back.

Like any Jackie Chan movie, SEOUL RAIDERS is made to be a comedy-dominated martial arts action flick, and there are several entertaining fights. The opening fight with Tony Leung and Shu Qi playing keep-away with some evil-doers statr off the movie with a bang. One very short fight that takes play while Lam is rounding up the Korean babes, all of whom are very attractive, showcases Sun-ah, played by Choi Yeo-Jin beating up some sexaully harrassing bikers with some swift Tae Kwon Do kicks. Shu Qi's humorous battle with Richie Jen totally outdoes any of her martial arts in SO CLOSE. Arguably the best fight takes place in alley, with Tony Leung fighting off several Korean thugs, including a quick-moving bouncer/Tae Kwon Do expert. Being a Tae Kwon Do blackbelt myself, I am quite pleased with all of the Korean fighters execution in SEOUL RAIDERS, a sequel that would fully justify any upcoming BANKOK RAIDERS

Great Movie!!! 14 Dec 2009
By Joseph Thompson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:DVD
This movie was great! I get to watch movies at work. This movie has quite a few funny moments. This movie passed the time quite well, I borrowed this movie from my library and it was the best movie I have seen in a month! You would be a fool not to at least watch it once! It was so good I added it to my wish list, and when I get paid I am TOTALLY BUYING THIS MOVIE!!! The story was great, it kept me interested and would not let go until it ended! The move is only in cantonese and mandarin audio, but it has english subtitles, but is well worth it!!

It is better once to try... 23 Dec 2011
By Michael Kerjman - Published on Amazon.com
Beautiful Asian folks kicked and punch each other mercilessly for reasons completely misiunderstandable too frequently while trying to get plates (counterfeited?) of the US hundred dollar note in right hands.

It is something like an Asian version of "Charlie's Angels" much lacking of sexism, regrettably.
