Book Description

On the night of the Leonid meteor shower, Moira Newton finds a damaged celestial being crash-landed outside her old house. She nurses him back to health and -- since he remembers little or nothing of his previous life, not even his true name -- calls the silent angel Leo. The ten thousand year old warrior that she comes to care about is sure of only three things from before his fall: that he has loved Moira for her entire life, more than anyone or anything else he has ever known; that she is the vessel for a secret crucial to the survival of his entire race; and that the very sound of his voice could kill her instantly...

Intended for adult audiences, Sentinel of Heaven explores the many different forms that love can take and asks the question -- how far would you go for what you believe in?

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive! 28 Feb. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Literally could not put it down. Something in me was compelled to keep reading until it was over. Then there was a hole in my heart where reading this book once was. The language is descriptive without being annoying, evocative of the classics in structure and characterizations. I hope to see more from this writer!

4.0 out of 5 stars Escapism at its best. 26 April 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As the story begins, you can't help being amused. it's the most unlikely and unusual. I enjoyed the mixture of magic and sadness, and the way the story flows. The descriptions of people and places were very clear, easy to picture in your mind. The second half of the book gets more complicated and needs your full attention to keep up. The end was not quite what I had anticipated. Very well written. I enjoyed this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A delightful surprise! 22 Jun. 2014
By Kelly Parker - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
I decided to give this a try even though it isn't my usual genre. Well, I ended up finishing it in an afternoon -- I couldn't put it down. The author doles out information in a way that makes you want to keep reading, and Leo is a yummy, irresistible hero. I'm looking forward to the rest of the trilogy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Down to earth while still fantastical 17 Feb. 2014
By Ethan MacKuin - Published on Amazon.com

I like the book a great deal. It flows really well to the point that I can sit down and start reading and the next thing I know, I've gone through hundreds of pages and the time has vanished. You just get that caught up in the story and the roller coaster of a ride. I also like how everything makes sense even with the fantasy element going on. It all stays true to its own inherent logic. There's no point where I was left thinking "Where the heck did that come from!?" That's not to say I wasn't surprised by things but once I got past the initial "Wow!" factor I could easily fit it all in with what had come before. For lack of a better way to put it, the story "clicks". Also to add to the roller coaster metaphor I mentioned, when you finally reach the end of the book, it completely feels like it does as the ride ends and you slowly pull up to the exit. The ride's over but you're still left breathless and with an immediate urge to go again. Well worth your time and highly recommended.
3.0 out of 5 stars enjoyed it, but... 17 Feb. 2014

The story and characters are highly engaging. The writing is very beautiful and clever. I truly did like this book. But... The language was often too lyrical and flowery for me, and the plot developed like a landslide. It seemed like from out of no where was this epic conflict, and it felt like I'd read two separate stories.

I do recommend this story -- just go in prepared for some quirks.
