Product Description

Review

This book deals with the implications of sensory difficulties. As the parents of children with 'autism-related problems' they have composed a book in which they relate the battles they faced as their son, Christian, struggled with extreme sensitivity to temperature, noise, taste and texture. Many of their experiences will be familiar to those who care for, or have, sensory integration problems. The book has an appealing and attractive cover, with simple black and white drawings throughout Christian's story. -- Good Autism Practice

This is an excellent book for any child with sensory issues. It explains to them why they feel the way they do using language which is easy to understand. It is also excellent for parents and siblings, it helps us to understand how a child with sensory issues perceives the world and why certain behaviours occur. I would highly recommend it.

Recommend for anyone with a child with sensory integration dysfunction 24 Mar. 2007

Format: Paperback
I had a child diagnosed with sensory integration dysfunction at age 8. If anyone has an older child who has a hard time with life, this is a great book. It is written from the perspective of a 12 year old. It's written by a peer. I read this to my 12 year old (yes he can read himself). I felt it more effective to read it to him. It made him feel good that he is not the only one have problems with the things he struggles with. There were good motivationals in it. Very friendly reading, and helpful tips at the end.

And sensory issues! This book helped me understand what he was feeling and how I could help him. Sensory issues are so overlooked as why children are having meltdowns or moody. This is a must read to be more educated for sensory issues.
