Product Description

Product Description

The drug Naloxyl is Nick's only reliable source of income. He isn't making ends meet gigging in pubs in Essex so he's volunteered for a drug trial. But he's beginning to suspect it's giving him side-effects. Not least of which is the ability to recall other people's memories. But should he reveal this to his trial doctor, or is he just paranoid? And all this at a time when he really doesn't need the hassle. His friend Eric, former 70s rock star turned eco-warrior, has invited himself to stay. His relationship with older woman Cairo is swinging in and out of focus; and a Swedish producer wants to hear his band perform but the only gig they can fix is at a dodgy S & M club in Kings Cross...

A well written book dealing with dope, money, crime and the environment in a pleasingly non preaching tone. The story spirals into a disturbing finale which begs you to finish in one read.

Format:Paperback
Counterculture novel mixes account of rise and fall of rock and roll band; eco-warriors; sixties hangovers; and graphic descriptions of gay S&M clubs in contemporary north and west London.

Compulsive reading - replace Powder, White City Blue, etc on shelf and take this on holiday.

Tallis guarantees satisfaction. Enjoy with damn fine coffee.

A really cultish book which manages to be extremely funny and extremely scary at the same time. What's it about ? Well, being in a bad band, sex with an older woman, Keats and altered states of consciousness I suppose. The thriller element had me genuinely gripped to the last few pages, whilst the painfully real descriptions of a crap band gigging in Essex had been laughing and wincing at the same time. Above all this is a book about what is real or not and whether we can trust our own perceptions... And there's an eco-theme too.. And there's Jimi Hendrix's knob !
