3.0 out of 5 stars Good value headset 16 Jan 2013
By J Cattermole VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
This is a good budget but quality gaming headset. I personally use this for Skyping and the mic is great quality and the sound is excellent as you would expect from Sennheiser - I have always used them in the past. The only thing letting them down is they arent the most comfortable unfortunately, they feel a tad rigid for long periods of time and have a basic pad headband - They are great if you aren't going to be wearing them for hours - If you're a more serious skyper or gamer it might be worth going for ones with the full padded headband which i prefer personally.

These are great value and a fantastic brand, not at all let down by the quality of sound and a clear micorphone - not bad value at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable enough multi-purpose headset 5 Nov 2012
By James B. Spink HALL OF FAME TOP 100 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
Although the Sennheiser PC310 is described as a gaming headset it is also suitable for a number of other PC or consul uses; Skype and speech-recognition applications being two of the most popular with me. The headset comes with a VERY long cable - 3 metres! - So is handy if you want to sit across the room from your gaming consul, but may just get in the way for normal computer use; a couple of detachable cables in different lengths would have been useful.

These are some of the details to give you an idea of what you get:

Cable length3 m/9.8 ft
Connector sockets Mic & Audio, 2 x 3.5 mm
Weight 195 g
Headphones Frequency response 17-22,000 Hz
Sound pressure level 118 dB
Microphone Frequency response 80 - 15,000 Hz
Pick-up pattern Uni-directional
Sensitivity -38 dBV/Pa

The headphones are good quality, as you would expect from Sennheiser, but are probably the least comfortable set I've used from the brand so far - not too uncomfortable, but not as good as I had expected. The headset as a whole is well made and comes with Sennheiser's usual warranty so will hopefully last a long time. Designed by the company's Danish division, rather than by the German head office, the headset is OK rather than really brilliant and better value and comfort may had from a less well-known brand if you shop around or check what "customers also viewed" on Amazon.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
If you are serious about playing multiplayer online games - especially team-based games, where you need to keep in close touch with your teammates - a headset like this is pretty much essential. Players who type their messages into chat windows find themselves respawning more often than they ought. The PC310 headset is a no-nonsense, practical gaming headset from a company with a track record for quality products, designed to give your team that competitive advantage.

Sound quality in the headphones is very good for gaming. The headphones are "open" on-ear phones, so you can still hear what's happening round you. Game sound is full but not too boomy; the headphones are quite loud, so you may need to turn in-game volume down a bit. The microphone boom is on the left, and swivels smoothly down into place under and to the left of your mouth, so you can't accidentally breathe into the microphone. Voice quality speaking into the microphone is very good indeed, and the noise-cancelling is surprisingly effective: the microphone just about picks up ambient noise, but it's kept in the background and your voice stays loud and clear over the top.

The PC310's padded headband is quite wide over the top. The length of the headband can be adjusted at each earphone. It's not a super-comfortable headset to wear, but it's not significantly uncomfortable either; they just feel a bit tight, with the headband pressing down on my head somewhat. When gaming, this may be an advantage: you don't want your headset falling off at a crucial moment!

This headset aren't just useful for gaming, they're also a very good way of improving voice quality over Skype (as long as you don't mind wearing headphones during the call, of course).

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
I have had quite a few gaming headsets in my time including Turtle Beach (X11 which are wired headsets for PC/Xbox and X3 and XP400 which are wireless headsets), Plantronics (Plantronics X40 GameCom XBox 360 Corded Stereo Headset - White) being an avid PC and XBox gamer. I found this gaming headset very basic and actually preferred the Plantronics headset which is a little over half the price of this one. Although Sennheiser are well renowned for their headphones and the sound is good, I didn't find it too much different to my other headsets. Playing the Xbox quite regularly with my Turtle Beach headsets, I'm used to having game and chat volume at my fingertips but it seems that both of my PC gaming headsets seem to lack this as standard which I do miss. A quick search on Turtle Beach PC Headsets yielded the Z1 and Z11 which are both cheaper than these headsets and had an in-line volume/mute control. Personally I'd say that although this gaming headset was nice, there are cheaper headsets out there that are just as good (or even better) with better functionality designed for hardcore gamers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great headset overall. 11 July 2012
By Refuge
This headset is almost identical to my old Sennheiser headset apart from the new 310 G4ME tag. Therefore this headset wasn't made for gamers... but is still a great headset, hence the reason I bought a new one after my old one died.

The major downside to this set is the lack of an in-line volume control and mute switch. I've come across quite a few headsets in my time I have just come to expect such an addition with any half decent headset. What makes this even worse is that my old version of this headset did have the in-line control. I'm not sure how they can possibly consider that there is no need for this addition when it comes to gamers.. I would have thought the opposite. You'll just have to get used to using the volume control on your computer, or if you're lucky like me have a keyboard that can control it.

Anywayz, a good quality headset with predominantly an acoustic sounding texture (typical of sennheiser), and not bulky unlike many £30+ headsets out there.

3 star because the lack of volume control is unforgivable for a sennheiser "gamer" headset.
