Having read the multitude of reviews on Amazon and other places, there has been a real mixed reception to these headphones. I have grown bored of in-ear headphones, and decided a pair of over the head ones were the job, and like many people, have owned the PX100's and decided to upgrade to the next level.
I have now been using the headphones on a regular basis for 2 weeks, and here is what I have found. Firstly, there has been much criticism about the lack of Bass from these units, and I would initially say, that is indeed true, but once the headphones have burned/played in for a while, the bass does get better. This does not mean that there is no Bass, but it is actually there, just a little understated. Personally, I hate a too bassy sound, so these suit well.
Secondly, some people seem to complain about the fit, and that the phones are uncomfortable. I also initially found this to be true, but then I realised that I had not correctly adjusted the head band. Once you do this, you will get a great fit, and I can wear these for 3-4 hours and feel no pain or discomfort, something that my expensive Sony NC-22's could not match.
The overall sound quality in my opinion is quite neutral, with some bias toward the Mid-Range and some Treble. That for me is fine, as I like a nice even sound, and to be honest, since I am not a Bass Head, they sound great. I didn't even change the EQ settings of my iPhone, they just sound great straight away. I listen to Classical, Pop, Funk, Blues, Prog Rock and Folk, and they all sound great.
The final criticism that seems to be made, is that they do not block out a lot of outside noise. Again, I found this to be true, until I realised that I had not correctly adjusted the head band. They do not block out all the noise, no headphones I have ever tried do this, especially on the London tube, but when well adjusted to your head, they DO block out a fair amount of noise. They are certainly better than most phones I have used.
Finally, for this price point, I think they are an outstanding pair of headphones, as they are, IMO, good quality and deliver a very good quality of sound. They might not suit people whom want mega earth shattering Bass, but for general listening on the move, they are difficult to fault.
Be careful of buying these units cheaper than they should be, there are a lot of counterfiet goods out there, and they are rubbish.
I recommend these headphones 100%.
