A definite upgrade 18 Oct 2005
By A Customer
Bought a blue version of these for the gym following a What Hi Fi recommendation. Unlike a previous reviewer I have had no problem using them whilst moving (although I use without the sponge pads). They are a definite upgrade for all the supplied headphones I have used. Also tried the cheaper MX400 for a basic MP3 player hoping the only difference would be the volume control but the MX500 has the edge. Recommended.

Bargain! 13 Dec 2005
By Ryan
I bought the MX500's to replace my ipod earphones. Like some of the other reviewers I don't consider myself an expert but I know what I do & don't like. And I didn't rate the ipod earphones at all! The quality of the music I was listening to was really poor - tinney and nowhere as smooth as I would like.

Anyway, the MX500s are great - especially for the price. If you want a better sound from your much cherished ipod and don't want to spend a ridiculous amount on the new ones, then these are for you. The sound is much more smooth - the bass particularly sounds better in my opinion. I felt the bass on the ipod was similar to the sound of bass from a vibrating speaker - not good.

Also the MX500s come with a small volume control on the lead. It doesn't make major changes to the volume but it's better than nothing. It's a great addition in my opinion as I hated having to search into my pocket to adjust the volume, or worse taking the ipod out to adjust it & then getting it nicked!!

If like me you are no music geek but enjoy good sounding music then I would recommend these headphones.

I can't tell you if the 'top end' tails off or if the bass is true but I can tell you these headphones are better than the standard iPod headphones. I never had a problem with the standard headphones supplied with my iPod until I broke one ear piece. After reading many reviews I decided to go for these and at the price I didn't feel I could lose. The are noticeably better then the standard iPod headphones, not massively better, but better.

Once criticism is the length of the wire. At 1m it is shorter than the standard iPod headphones and I would prefer it to be just a little longer, just another 20cm or so.

There seems to be a very mixed bag of reviews for these.
Having gotten them regardless, I have to say I find them a huge improvement over the standard iPod nano ones. Read more

I was expecting more bass after reading reviews on here but to be honest they sound little different to the Apple ones, which isn't a glowing recommendation! Read more

good
The case which they come in is stylish and practicle. The volume control is also sucsessful since it makes it easy to adjust the volume if the portable device is in a pocket. Read more
