I'm a drummer. Drums are loud. Loudness causes tinitus. Tinitus isn't good.
Evidently, I needed to do somthing about this conflict of interest (my hearing vs playing drums), and I decided that the best route to go down would be to get a really good pair of isolation headphones. Which I did.
The HD280's lower sound levels significantly, meaning my drums & cymbals are not as loud, and the music I'm playing into my ears doesn't have to be as loud - All of which is fantastic. The same applies in other situations - In a car, all talking disappears, as does tyre and wind noise. This means you can listen to your music at a lower volume, and in turn not damage your hearing, and extend the battery life of your CD or MP3 player.
The sound quality is also fantastic, when using the HD280's, things will pop out of your music you have never heard before, new instruments, sounds, and somtimes even the band talking after or before songs. It is a completely revolutionary experiance.
The headphones are comfortable to wear for an extended length of time, and are not to heavy. The cable is coiled up, which means it very rarely gets snagged on anything, or tangled up. The ear & head pads, and the cable are all also easily replacable. The headphones also fold in a large variety of different fashions, you should be able to fit them into a bad one way or another!
Overall, a fantastic purchase.
