These Sennheiser HD419 headphones fit the bill nicely for me. I am by no means an audiophile, but have great difficulty finding over-ear headphones which don't hurt my ears (a fault of my ears rather than other headphones, to be fair, they stick out. No, you may not call me Dumbo...), and these are REALLY comfortable. They are nicely padded, and not too tight. The sound quality is very good, a vast improvement on my usual in-ear Sony headphones. I do find the bass a little too powerful and somewhat distracting when I try to use them to watch TV/DVDs at night, but it sounds great with music.

The sound-insulating qualities of these headphones warrant a special mention - they block out almost all background noise, I was amazed, they blocked as much as actual noise-cancelling headphones that I have used previously.

The only slight quibble I have with them regards the cable, which is 1.4m long and single-sided. I personally would have found a longer cable more useful for in-home use, although I do appreciate that they specifically state that they are 'optimised for personal audio', and the length is adequate for use with portable audio devices.

Nice headphones, which don't hurt sticky-out ears (it can't be just me who has this issue!). A good buy.

I am a long term Sennheiser fan. I had previously owned HD205's, but they unforunately broke. So, I decided to purchase these beauties.

The Advantages:

Incredible Bass Response
Great Trebles
1.4 Metre Cable (Perfect Length)
Low Impedance (Great for use with portable devices)
Closed Ear Cup (Blocks ambient noise well)
Unbelievably Comfortable
Great 'stealthy' colour scheme
2 Year Warranty
Made by Sennheiser!

The Disadvantages:

'Old Fashioned' Ear Cup Padding(Cloth)
Thin Cable (Feels a little cheap)
Adjusting Joint becomes weak after time

I spent a lot of time picking out disadvantages with these headphones, the ones I did are really very insignificant. They definitely should not affect your decision of purchase.

Sennheiser are, in mine and many others opinions, the best headphone producer. The only problem is they are prone to break. That is where the 2 Year Warranty comes in very handy. So you can have a least 2 years of pure amazing audio listening. These headphones are the best in their price range. Not only that they have a better listening experience than Dr Dre Beats and they cost a third of the price.

I would recommend these Sennheisers to everyone looking for a fantastic audio experience. Perfect!

Use these daily both out-and-about and while at home, I love them. The sound quality is excellent, if you try to go back to Apple earphones after these you will notice immediately how vast the difference is. They are comfy, have a nice matte look and the cable length is perfect for a daily commute unlike other Senns which can have excessively long cables. The selling point for these is dynamic bass and the bass is certainly more noticeable than other similarly priced Sennheiser headphones (Senn HD428) while the other sounds remained just as sharp and pronounced. I am by no means an audiophile but I think Sennheiser are already well-known for being a brand with great sound quality rather than just a fashion accessory like Dr Dre Beats and if I was given a choice between using these or the most expensive Beats, I would pick these in a heartbeat (pun not intended).

I was in the market for some over the ear phones for my daily commute on the tube.
I currently own another (cheaper) pair of Sennheisers, and recall being astonished at the excellent sound and build quality delivered for a very affordable price, which led me towards this purchase.

Pros:
They look very, very nice;
They are exceptionally comfortable (I thought I would miss leather ear cups, but I am a convert - I can barely stand to use my other earphones);
They are built very well (strong, sturdy and able to withstand constant packing/unpacking)
Sometimes I prefer to wear earphones with no music playing through them just to keep the rattle of the tube out of my ears - and these do that very well
Excellent value for money compared to other more 'fashionable' brands on the market
Sennheiser have been doing this for years and obviously know their way around a pair of cans

Cons:
Cord is thin, not sure how well it will do in the long term
There is a fair amount of leakage which means I don't blast music whilst I'm commuting, however I'm okay with this
No case for the headphones

All in all I'm very pleased with this purchase; I would not hesitate to recommend.

Pros:
The sound is great.
They're comfy and cover my relatively big ears so that they don't hurt them after a couple hours. Worn them for 6 hours before needing to give me ears some air but that's pretty good I would say
The material seems strong enough, plastic but not cheap in my opinion and definitely flexible enough to fit anyone's head without any problem.
Bass.. its there and its good, but its not going to blow you away, but I didn't expect it to anyway so for me its fine, for people looking for crazy bass, you won't get it in this price range. Stays as a pro because it is there more so than other headphones I've had in the past at this price range
Loudness - Its definitely loud enough - I think it could have been a tiny bit louder before getting to the point where it hurts your ears or ruins the clearness of what you're listening too. Noise cancellation is there, though at night I do have to put the volume a bit down because it can still potentially wake people up in the other rooms. If i just have them sitting on the table and blast music through them its like having speakers.

Cons:
Theres only one, and thats the cable. Its VERY thin. I'm not sure how long its going to last, it may be thin but strong but for me; thin cables are a problem. I don't want to accidentally run it over with my chair wheel and find the sounds completely messed up, so I'm trying to be extra careful because I don't feel like it would last if its stressed even a little bit. I may be wrong, it may be very sturdy, if in a few months its taken some knocks and still going strong ill edit this as a Pro rather than a Con
