Very Decent Anime 1 Nov 2010
By Rads
Format:DVD
OK so I'll keep this short and sweet:

Action - Very good fights that flows really nicely and frankly is just awesome!

Characters - Most of the characters are really likable, no annoying pre shippuden Naruto types running about,
you'll find yourself even caring for some of the villains in this show.

Plot - This show is very solid as far as the plot goes, however it only really takes you from A - B, its not a
Death Note, Code Geass, Gundam style plot with twists and turns, for the most part its a case of heres the
big bad guy, lets unite the nations and take him down, the straight forward plot does work well however
don't get me wrong but that is the only reason i gave this 4/5 and not 5/5 as for me a 5/5 show needs to
kick me round the face with a memorable plot twist or something.

A very fun series 29 Nov 2010

This set includes all thirteen episodes of the `Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings' anime's first season. Based on a series of games by Capcom, this series is greatly entertaining to watch. Set during Japans Warring States period, the series sees multiple feudal lords fighting to control the nation. Everything changes though when an even greater threat arises, Oda Nobunaga the Devil King , which forces the various lords to ally against their common foe or fall separately.

`Sengoku Basara' is a greatly entertaining series with some brilliantly over the top battles, likable characters and an interesting plot. The animation is good and the English dub is brilliantly fun and hammy. I haven't played any of the games that this series is based on but after watching this anime I will definitely be looking into them. `Sengoku Basara' is probably not the best anime series around but it is a fun series that I would recommend to any anime fan.

Okay let's get this out of the way to start with. If you are expecting some kind of historical drama which is 100% true to history, effectively a documentary...go somewhere else (like a library).

Devil Kings Basara (Sengoku Basara in Japan) is a tale of historical lords and generals facing one another on the battlefield for the prize of controlling the land of the rising sun.

Thus far, there has been a stalemate between many of these nations, with ambitions being thwarted again and again in the race to claim the capital. But a new and powerful force has arrived- the Oda clan, headed by arguably anime's evilest evil guy, Nobunaga Oda, owner of western guns and a killer moustache. Warriors such as headstrong Sanada Yukimura of the Takeda army (reds) and Date Masamune of the Date army (blues) although with a variety of other memorable leaders, must band together and crush the greater threat!

Over-the-top battle sequences, cheesy catch phrases and a fast-paced storyline (a reasonable length at 12 episodes plus 1 special), this is a show that could be happily consumed in a weekend with friends!
