With Oda Nobunaga defeated, Japan's the various fractions go back to warring amongst themselves in an attempt to conquer the Land of the Rising Sun for themselves. Things are thrown into chaos once again however when the powerful Toyotomi Clan lead by the giant Hideyoshi begin their own fight, intending to crush all opposition beneath the heels of his highly trained and massive army. The Toyotomi Clan's campaign forces the various warlords of Japan to once again fight against a common foe but the Toyotomi's master strategist Takenaka Hanbe has plans to counter any threat to his masters ambition.
This second season of the 'Sengoku Basara' anime contains all twelve episodes of the entertaining series, with the thirteenth being an amusing extra episode. The series continues with the over the top battles with some nicely animated action sequences and some good humour here and there as well. The English dub for the series is as gloriously hammy as it was in the previous season but the original Japanese is also included for those who prefer it. The plot of the series is reasonable and the characters remain interesting and likeable with even the main antagonist Toyotomi Hideyoshi having some redeeming qualities. The series also gives a little more development for Date Masamune and Sanada Yukimura.
The main problem with the series is the usual one for thirteen episode series, that there probably isn't enough screen time for all the characters but this is only a minor irritation and the series does try its best in this regard.
The 'Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings' season two is another entertaining instalment of the series and is just as good as the previous season. Overall I would give the season a high four stars.
