A great little anime based on the Warring States period on Japan. A lot of great and unique characters based on actual historical figures, but because there are so many, a lot of them don't have enough screen time and their personalities aren't as fleshed out as say Masamune's or Yukimura's are. Some very good action sequences and humour involved but the action sequences can also get quite frustrating at times when one of the characters seems to let out an energy blast that kills all of the opposing soldiers thus ending what could have been a great fight scene (This happens a little too often for my liking). Some really great voice talent here from some of the most well known voice actors in the industry. The plot was easy enough to follow and you didn't have to think too hard about it which might put some people off but personally I found it a breath of fresh air in a sea of mind bending anime's that have you wondering what the hell it all meant! Plus this series has some of the best opening and ending theme songs i've ever heard, that get you fired up and feeling like a badass.
The extras could have been a better, with just textless opening and credits sequences, a couple of really crappy little cartoons entitled 'Mini Basara' that kinda ruin a couple of the characters in the show and only 2 audio commentaries - 1 per season (Although the one on the first season is hilarious). There was also pretty major damage to the box set itself, the whole corner had been smashed off and was in several pieces meaning I can't close the box properly (But this is probably a one off).
So overall, if you are a fan of the games, the history of the Sengoku period or are just looking for an anime series that is thoroughly enjoyable and easy to follow - Sit back and enjoy Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings, I whole heartedly recommend it!
