A story of terror, heartbreak and abuse

Product Description

Send Me No Flowers is the story of a young woman's fight for survival.

Donna Stewart's family is poor but respectable and hard working. Donna is beautiful and clever - about to go up to university. Celebrating her exam results with her friends at a club, she meets Danny Lester, ten years older, much richer, a businessman - he sweeps her off her feet. Despite warnings from friends and family, Donna enjoys Danny's wild streak. She believes this is the man she will marry and live with happy ever after. But it gradually emerges that 'Danny the knife' is a dangerous criminal - and a sadist. She is introduced to a world of drugs and prostitutes, where Danny gets his kicks by terrifying her. The longer she leaves it, the harder it will be to escape. But eventually, helped by a loyal circle of female friends, she works out a plan.

send me no flowers 22 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
This is the best book i have read in a long time. The abuse is very graphic, and makes for uncomfortable reading in places, but nevertheless, you still want to read further. The ending is unpredictable, which makes a change from a lot of books around at present.
Reminded me a lot of Martina Cole at her best, two women, close, ladykillers etc, and far outshines the drivel she has been passing off for the last couple of years.
Read this book, and enjoy, but be prepared to have to leave the housework until later!!

Very good 19 Feb 2009
Format:Paperback
I read the review for this in a magazine and bought the book on Tuesday. I finished it in one day, it was really good although it was a quite graphic in places. I felt so drawn to the character and felt everything she was going through. Fortunately I've never been in a domestic abuse situation but the author made it feel so real it was scary. Well done to Jenny Tomlin and I hope people who are in this situation find the strength and help they deserve.

Difficult to read at times
This book was difficult to read at times. Very graphic. It tells how someone with a great future can easily get addicted to drugs and alcohol. So young and naive. Read more

I enjoyed this book, although did find some parts of it to graphic and feel a little less detail was needed.
