Product Description

Selwyn's Law of Employment is the market leading textbook on employment law. Now in its sixteenth edition, it has long been viewed as essential reading for students of employment law and employment law practitioners together with those studying the law in a business or professional environment. Norman Selwyn, a former university lecturer with over forty years' experience of employment law, excels in providing clear and succinct analysis on all areas of employment law from both an individual and collective standpoint. The breadth of coverage of case law and statutory material is unrivalled and ensures the reader is fully up to date on all areas of this fast moving area of the law. The new edition has been thoroughly revised to take account of all the most recent changes to this area of law and in particular provides up to date analysis of the new Equality Act and the impact it will have on discrimination in the work place. Online Resource Centre This book is accompanied by an Online Resource Centre, which offers reliable and regular updates to the law following publication.

The author must have taken on the feedback as the book now contains citations via way of footnotes at the bottom of every page. This book takes in the new Equality Act 2010, and it puts it into perspective in light of the various statutes it replaced. I would have been lost without it.

This isn't the easiest of books to work with, but then this is largely owing to the subject matter rather than the writing style. There are more readable books on employment law, however these often have a tendency to over-simplify the subject. I've been studying employment law for almost a year and so far this book hasn't let me down - the information is in there somewhere, even if I've sometimes had to get on Google to look up the explanations of some of the legalise!

As a Part-Time Lecturer in Labour Law, this book has been a wonderful and very valuable tool and asset. It has assisted me to facilitate and bring my class notes up-to-date, and I would recommend it to any person who has a very keen interest in the area of Employment Law.
