3.0 out of 5 stars Decent Exploration of Secondary Characters in the Drizzt Do'Urden, 25 Mar 2009
By J. M. Salinas (London, UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This trilogy follows the unlikely companionship formed by Artemis Entreri, the Calimport assassin that first appeared in the Icewind Dale Trilogy and Jarlaxle, leader of the mercenary drow band Bregan D'Aerthe.

As a trilogy, the books are somewhat disappointing lacking a common thread. Book one is a story on its own, on how Jarlaxle deals with the recently acquired crystal shard Crenshinibon and is set in Calimport.

Books 2 and 3 see Jarlaxle and Artemis travel the Bloodstone Lands and almost become heroes to the inhabitants of the lands.

Book 3 finished reveals the origins of Entreri and how he came to become the feared and reputed assassin.

So, as you can see, this trilogy is more a collection of stories than a need to read front to back set in order to get the whole plot.

Probably for the devoted Salvatore fans and not much in terms of a convoluted plot, but a nice insight into cleverly crafted secondary characters that almost manage to hold their own as main leads.
