Lives up to Which?'s reputation for clear, low-jargon advice which explains all the processes, tells you what you need to do and what everyone else will do, and discusses the pros and cons of all the different options.

This edition (though there have been many) is nice and up-to-date, with some analysis of the impact of the 2008 credit crunch on the housing market and what the possible outcomes over the next couple of years could mean for buyers and sellers.

If, like me, you're a first time buyer, or if it's been a while since you had to do any of this stressful stuff, a couple of hours digesting this book could be the answer to feeling calm and confident about going about it all without falling into any common pitfalls or traps. It certainly was for me.

For a first time buyer such as myself, who didn't know where to start, this book explains in brief easy to understand steps how to go about buying a house. Particularly useful were the flow chart p19, which explained which chapters to look at in what sequence if buying a place (equivalent flow chart on p18 for those selling), questions to ask the real estate agent, what to look for internally, externally & structurally when viewing a property as well as mortgage advice

Great book. I found it invaluable. Having only bought ( first time) and never sold a house before, I found so much information that I had never thought about. I went through mine and highlighted the bits I knew I would need to go back to... so much good advice and general information that I knew I wouldn't be able to remember it all.
Highly recommended to anyone who knows nothing about buying & selling property and had lots of useful information that my friend ( who has gone through this procedure on 3 occasions) didn't know and wished she had of done!
