I am an executive coach and this is one of my staple reference books which I often give to coachees to read.
This book has been around since the 1920's and is STILL the classic book on public speaking. It covers topics such as developing self-confidence, how to prepare for a speech or presentation, how to interest your audience, how to open and close a talk and how to develop stage presence.

Although I had already read 90% of the content by reading Carneige's other books on public speaking....

Very useful book! So easy to read and a great follow up to 'how to win friends and influence people'. Many criticise Carnegie's writing style and say he could just publish a list of do's and dont's. I believe that lists are ok but do not allow a deeper understanding of the message! The examples Carnegie uses are timeless and you can mirror the efforts in everyday conversations, meetings and e-mail not only in public speach making. Would recommend to anybody!

Very useful, already owned the 'how to make friends and influence people' (or similarly named) after I'd owned it and lost it as a student, and I was so happy with that decided to buy this one. It doesn't disappoint either. Meaningful advice and from professional examples I have taken on board a lot from these books.

This was a light brezzy read. I read this in one evening and the message stuck. I highly recommend this book for anyone who sees themselves speaking to crowds of people. It should be compulsory read for all university lecturers. Ministers and pastors esp need to read this book. This is a must read for all my children, when they come. Dale Carnegie, God bless you and all your children after you.

I read a lot of reviews on Deal Carnegie's books. My dad have read all of his ten books in urdu (language spoken in Pakistan) and he is the one who recommended me this. Im a full time student and my life can be hectic and stressful sometimes. He told me to at least try reading it everyday for 15-20 min. It will give me motivation and good advice that will help me in my daily life.

Really well put together book, with a great mix of theory and stories / examples.

I didn't even realise it happening, but after reading this book I more or less lost my fear of public speaking. Definitely recommend.
