Product Description

Product Description

Born blind and declared incurable after a series of childhood operations, Meir Schneider remained convinced that his disability was not permanent. As a teenager he began to work with teachers who gave him exercises to reverse his blindness. Within four years he gained a remarkable degree of vision, and began developing a system of therapeutic exercise combining movement, breathing, and mental imagery. When he began working with others, miraculous recoveries ensued.

Movement for Self-Healing details Schneider's methods of stimulating the natural healing powers of the body, with specific guidelines for improving vision, back problems, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, breathing, and muscular dystrophy.

I purchased the book as a first edition some years ago but lost it on lending it to someone. Hence I have bought it and reread it once again.
It is well written and easy to read, illustrating there are other ways to look at and treat ilnesses ranging from eyesight to bone and muscular deformaties and from arthritis to how to manage more serious illness by considering the whole of the body.

I stress it is not written as a difficult to appreciate, medical technical book.

Meir's experiences in life are amazing, in the difficulties he had in overcoming blindness as a child and his success in improving what little vision he had.
He has also spent his life(along with associates) helping others to help themselves and continues to do so.
On completing this book you will find yourself wanting to find out more about him and looking him up on his web site where he has his own clinic in the USA.

One of the most inspiring books I have found period. 30 July 1998
By WeissBud@aol.com - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I have been working in the field of education and various forms of therapy for over 35 years having been the director of a large program for the developmentally disabled and working in rehabilitation of adults as well for many years. I have never found a more inspiring book in all that time. Recently, a friend in his middle 50s who had been through all of the "right" therapies available in the major teaching institutions in New York City following a massive stroke was becoming quite discouraged. He had made nowhere near the progress that he had hoped for despite really working at whatever he was given to do. After reading Meir's book, he became totally motivated again and made an appointment to see Meir when he came to New York and is now on the road to real progress working at 2 things in his life full time: Teaching his mathmematics students in College, and going at it rehabilitating himself and inspiring those around him to stretch out in life and not s! imply to accept the limitations that they have always supposed were barriers to fuller participation in life. I can not reccommend any book more highly in this field.

inspirational story 22 Jun 2001

Amazing story. This book is a highly recommended read for anyone hoping to cure himself of any disease or condition, be it imperfect sight or anything else. Whatever ails you, you will be convinced that you can overcome it. Meir Schneider views disease as an opportunity for self-growth rather than as an evil enemy to be killed off. Healthy people don't get sick. "Once the body is relaxed, the breathing correct, and all the joints completely flexible, it is difficult for any disease to take hold."

His holistic method makes too much sense to disregard. However, our society is not ready to step into an age of holistic health care.

Self-Healing Is a Book to Re-Read Every Year 19 Dec 1999
By Marlene Lily - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a wonderful, inspiring book. I have read it many times. It is full of wisdom, but very practical. I can't recommend it too highly. It is not just about healing bad eyes but many other physical problems. Meir Schneider is a humble genius.
