5.0 out of 5 stars The best Chinese graded reader I've ever had! 21 July 2013
Verified Purchase
Firstly, the book is very rich in material - it six stories, each recorded on a supplementary MP3. Then, it is the first book I've seen which has a special screen. With its help you can cover pinin, so you can chose to read characters only.

5.0 out of 5 stars These series of books are excellent 26 Sep 2009

These two reader of Chinese are excellent little books. They are cheap but dont be fooled by the price, the quality of the books are top class. They are sturdy and well bound books with good fonts. The books will suit all learners of chinese of intermediate level. I had been looking for ages for books of this level but glad i came across these two gems. A must buy for all serious students of Chinese.

A book you can read again and again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent litening resource, vocabulary builder 23 Feb 2009
By Anatoli - Published on Amazon.com
The interesting stories are all supplied with pinyin, read out by two readers with good voices and great standard accents. Slow enough but still natural. Some vocabulary is translated into English. There could be more. Enjoying both volumes. Must have for a Mandarin student.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good book, but. 25 Nov 2010

My Chinese teacher said that the authors of this book are all very famous writers in China and all the works are very good ones. However, I have to point out that Pinyin of some words is missing.

4.0 out of 5 stars No Glossary 4 Nov 2011
By W. Eckert - Published on Amazon.com

I bought this after working on Vol 3 of the series. Vol. 3 has a glossary, which is incredibly useful. For some reason, volume 1 (this book) does not, which makes study that much more complicated. This is a great series, though, and with that one caveat, I recommend it.
