5.0 out of 5 stars A Wake Up Call for Everyone in the UK, 5 Jan 2007
This is a really unusual book. I can't decide whether I would classify it as travel or self-help - probably self-help through travel! It is a really neat little book, compact, colourful and well-designed. It is based on the premise that everybody in the UK has 132 days of free time in their year (104 weekend days plus minimum 20 days statutory holiday plus 8 days public holidays) and challenges you to do more with it. We're always hearing that we are 'time poor' but this book proves that we are not, and gives lots of different ideas for what you could do with all that free time. It starts with a brief questionnaire, so that you can work out whether you are a terminal workaholic, a carefree hedonist, or somewhere in between. It then gives lots of ideas as to how you can start small (make more of your lunch hour, hang out at the Apple store playing with the gadgets after work, invite a friend or partner to cocktails at a tiki bar), get out of your comfort zone (take up an exciting new hobby to meet different people or go to Fes for a long weekend with your lover), or think big (volunteer for eco-friendly projects in East Timor or take the overland route to Cairo). It's written in a really entertaining style, in bite-size chunks, and it is illustrated throughout with groovy little stick man and woman illustrations. I think this book will change my life for the better this year. Which is pretty good for a fiver!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and inspirational , 29 Dec 2006
By Jessa "Jessa" (Cambridge, UK) - See all my reviews
With lots of fun and inspirational ideas to get you out and actually doing something, this cheap and cheerful little book certainly gave me the kick up the bum I needed to help along my travel plans.
It gives ideas on varying scales, from things you can do in your lunch break at school or work to large scale projects, adventure holidays, volunteering opportunities and (for instance) month long treks.
Great if you're stuck in a rut or want some fresh travel ideas!

1.0 out of 5 stars dont buy unless your loaded, 15 Jan 2007

(REAL NAME)
this book gives you a few good ideas on what to do with your spare time but the majority are for the rich, getting away to new york for a weekend or buggering of to some festival's around the world can only be acheived if you are rich. i was hoping for a more home based book which gave ideas on what to do on a boring sunday, not once in a life time opportunities. it is poorly set out and also dificult to read...it looks like an orange mobile phone instruction booklet.
