How good is Seinfeld? To answer this question, you need to think about when the first ever episode of Seinfeld was made - 1989. 18 years ago (has it really been that long?!), the creators of the show, Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, wrote a sit-com script about the grey, intangible areas of social interaction, relationships and life. For example, how the second button on a shirt will make or break the shirt. If the second button is too high, you look like you live with your mother. Another example from the pilot episode would be a man's completely inability to read signals and know if a woman likes him or is just being friendly. This is the stuff we experience every day in our lives, but find it difficult to articulate to others. So to have a 80's U.S. sit-com with canned laughter and 3 wall sets do it is incredible.
Nevermind 1989 ... today in 2007, the show is so fresh and original. It is unlike any other sit-com out there (with the possible exception of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David's other show). I don't know about you, but I have dropped a pea or a grape or something in the kitchen and the thing has literally disappeared. We all have casual acquaintances who after spells of small talk and briefly greeting them as they pass, you then settle on polite nodding when your paths cross. We all know close-talkers, low-talkers and same-sex friends who we dream of breaking up with like a lover. And, yes, dates are just like job interviews and break ups are just like prison breaks. To see the tired old sit-com formula write and act out these things, leaves me speechless.
If you have never seen Seinfeld before, you really don't know what you're missing. I just re-watched the first two seasons for the first time in years (believe it or not, most of the examples above are from the first dozen episodes only) and it is unbelievable how they just hammer you with hilarious but trivial observations from their life and yours. You laugh not because someone has hit their head or slipped or something stupid like that, but because you recognise all these things that you thought no one talked about. And entire plots revolve around these things. There's no dramatic confluence of events, no external crisis's - just half hour shows about a pony remark or waiting for a table in a Chinese restaurant.
Larry David's input is huge and the show does suffer when he leaves at the end of series 7, but after several years and over 150 episodes you have to expect a slight dip in quality.

I have just finished watching all nine series and am somwhat pathetically getting withdrawal symptoms. OK towards the end the episodes get less funny but the previous episodes set high standards it would be hard for them to keep it up. If you have seen the odd episode of Seinfeld and liked it then buy this. It is quite satisfying to see them all in order with deleted scenes, mistakes and more as a bonus. Others have said why this is a good tv programme far more eloquently then I could so I will not say too much more. It was good to see them again in Curb Your Enthusiasm, which I watched just to see them. Hum, perhaps I will start with CYE series one onwards!

I'm french so, sorry for my english. I ordered this pack and i hoped that the subtitles french will be present. And it is. So i'm very happy.
There are for each season the audio :
english, french, german
and for the subtitles :
en, fr, ger. And from the fourth season, there are also :
danish, ducth, finnish, hebrew, norwegian, portuguese, swedish.
J'ai commandé ce coffret en espérant qu'il y ait les sous titres francais. Et oui ils y sont. Attention j'ai bien commandé la version région 2 car la version region 1 dispo aussi je ne sais pas.
En langue audio on a
anglais, francais, allemand
et pour les sous titre
anglais, francais, allemand
Et à partir de la saison 4, il y a aussi ces sous titre :
