Saw this very fetching watch in a jewelers window the other day - the picture here really doesn't do it justice, it is jet black and shiny and the strap is very good too if a little on the thin side. Got this as a replacement for my aging Kinetic which I am told needs a new battery despite being heavily advertised at the time as never needing one ever! Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment by getting another Seiko, but I'm reliably informed that Solar watches are much more efficient at making and storing power than a Kinetic so I'll see how it goes.

Pleased with this Watch so far, very well made; very Goth; would recommend

This watch ticks all the boxes for me, light, slim, good looking and the battery never needs replacing!
And for the price...well I find it hard to put my other Seiko back on even though it's worth 5 times more.

Love this watch. I am currently charging it. I wondered if double ticking meant there was something wrong until i visited the Seiko Website. http://www.seikowatches.com/support/faq/solar_2.html

There is a possibility of a rechargeable battery being out of charge. Please try recharging it by exposing it to sunlight.

Jumps in 2-second intervals
It is a sign that the energy stored in the rechargeable battery is reduced to an extremely low level.
When this occurs, some of the watch functions and calendar function may stop working for certain calibers.

In that case, please recharge the watch before it stops completely.

Stopped at the 15-second position
If your watch features a power save function, the watch will enter "Power Save 1" mode after 72 hours without receiving a sufficient light source. In this mode, the second hand stops at the 15-second position, and the hour and minute hands also stop.

When the watch is exposed to a sufficient light source for five seconds or longer, it will display the current time again after the second hand is rapidly advanced.

Stopped at the 45-second position
If your watch features a power save function, the watch will enter "Power Save 2" mode when the watch is in an insufficient charging state for a long time.
The second hand stops at the 45-second position, and the hour and minute hands also stop.

After sufficiently recharging the watch, set it for the current time if necessary.

Completely stopped
When the hands are stopped completely, there is a possibility of the rechargeable battery being out of charge. If this occurs, please recharge it by a window by exposing it to sunlight for 5-6 hours before using it again.

Yes perfect in all respects.
Arrived here in Spain on the day it was supposed to and within a few hours had it charged and running. Some reviews talk about the time it took to have an operational charge but I suspect that is down to UK weather conditions. Here no problem.
The watch does look better than the photo and as with most Seiko watches supplies the quality you would expect for the price. It's a good modern design and despite the rather large face it doesn't appear cumbersome what ever size wrist it's on.
Looks good, feels good and is good.
If you like the specification then go buy it.

This watch is much more beautiful in the flesh. The sides and bezel is covered by a titanium carbide layer that makes the watch
just a bit shiny in a black toned way.Hard to describe, but very pretty.Accuracy is as expected,my specimen gains about 8 seconds Pr. month.
The strap is also good looking being a patent leather type of calf skin. The buckle is made in the same way as the watch, stainless steel with titanium carbide.Out of the box,the strap is rather stiff, but now, after one month of use,it is much better.

The only thing I would have liked to see on this watch was a sapphire crystal. But,for the money, this is a nice watch, running
on solar energy!Recommended!

For the price, a very stylish solar powered watch. Initially the watch seemed to take a very long time to charge - for two days it ran in the 'low charge' mode, stepping at 2 second intervals, but since then it has run perfectly, and after 2 weeks is still in step with my radio controlled clock, to the second. There is a slightly up-market version of the watch with an ion-plated case, which I would have preferred, but the increase in price seemed hardly worth while. A good buy.

Looks better in real life. If you are after something elegant and do not like the useless clutter of chronograph watches, this watch is for you. Nice size too, large enough to be classified as trendy, but not over-sized.

Only drawback is that the strap is a bit stiff, but I could not get myself to take a star away from the rating.

I like the look of this watch and the fact that it is solar powered. It has both date and day, although the weekend days are not so easy to see (at least I know it's the weekend!). It has fluorescent hands and hour marks so good at night too. The leather strap was a little stiff at first but, after a week of use, it is much more supple now. Easy to adjust too.
