I had been hankering after a Kinetic watch from Seiko for quite some time, and after careful consideration I opted for the Kinetic divers watch. I chose this watch because it is timeless in style, unfussy, no nonsense, uncomplicated and is widely acknowledged to be robust. Well ...... the wait was worthwhile, it is everything and more than I had hoped. I love the simple style, it is a bit of a throwback to the 70's and 80's. Everything about the watch is spot-on, the sawtooth bezel feels just perfect, not too loose, not too tight, I love the unique hands for hour and minutes, the lumibrite digits and hands are set perfectly against the jet black dial and the black finish to the bezel is neither too matt or too gloss. I had considered a couple of different styles from Seiko, both had significantly more gadgets on board, but my thinking was 'would I really use any of these extras?'. I certainly know I made the right decision, this watch tells you the time very clearly, it is stylish without being gimmicky, the date window is easily visible, it feels so well made, even the kinetic charge is simple to understand, just press a button and it tells you how much charge you have by moving the seconds hand the appropriate distance. Don't forget, this isn't just a good looking watch, it is a professional divers watch good for 200 metres and because of the lumibrite hands against the black dial it is very easy to read in the murkiest conditions when diving deep. Are there any downsides? Not for me, but the watch is pretty heavy, you certainly know you've got it on your wrist, especially the first time you wear it, it is big, so if you have arms like toothpicks it may look a little odd, but it is certainly not ungainly big, my wrists aren't exactly huge and it looks just right. The biggest compliment I can pay it is when a friend of mine who has a sea Mariner looked at it he thought my Seiko was a much better looking watch at a fraction of the price. All-in-all an extremely good buy, a high quality watch that doesn't break the bank. Would I recommend this watch? Absolutely 100%. If you want gimmicks and loads of features then this watch isn't for you, but if you want functional features and good looks then buy one now!
