Juana Molina's 'Segundo' (Second) could perhaps best be summed up as pastoral electronica, with pulsing soundscapes and field recorded (literally!) samples intertwined with Juana's delicate voice and acoustic guitar. The opening track 'Martin Fierro' sets verses of Argentinas greatest epic poem of the same name (a tale of a set upon gaucho (cowboy) trying to live a peaceful against the backdrop of war and urbanisation in 19th century Argentina) against a building chorus of electronic swoops and twangs. Further highlights include 'El Perro' (The Dog) with the barks and yelps of her 'best friend' punctuating and climaxing the track and 'La Visita' (The Visit) telling the tale of a journey accompanying her mother around Los Angeles with its highlights of the 99 Cent store and architecture by Neutra, Lloyd-Wright and Schindler. If you know Spanish it will help but even without it this music envelops and delights on repeated listens.
