I ordered this the day before release, Amazon delivered on the Bank holiday Friday which I was pleased about, but not expecting. The Blaze megadrive was easy to set up and was up and running within five minutes of being unpacked. Unfortunately, it kept flickering whilst playing one of the few decent included ROMs, Golden Axe. It kept going negative in colours then switching back. Then it changed and would not recover. The control pads included are cheap and tacky, but it is compatible with the old megadrive controllers so that's fine. Unfortunately the whole thing feels ridiculously cheap and the music is played a few semitones lower than it should be. When mine failed I got out my old megadrive and as old as it is, it still works much better. Due to the fault I am returning to Amazon who have been really helpful.
Ultimately, the Blaze Megadrive is a great idea, that fails to fully deliver it's promises. Go and find yourself a cheap second hand real megadrive until Blaze rectify the issues.

I was really excited by this product, I have a massive back catalog of mega drive games and I was looking forward to playing them again. Unfortunately it wasn't to be. For a start, the control pads are BAD, tiny tacky and difficult to hold, they feel flimsy as well. That doesn't matter, the machine will accept the standard Mega Drive controllers which chances are you have if you have the games lying about. The built in ROMs are awful, the audio is either slowed down or sped up and they skip and judder like crazy. Inserting a cartridge is a bit scary to, I almost needed a hammer to get my Sonic 3 cartridge into the thing and when it eventually went in, it told me that it was only designed for the PAL or SECAM version of the Mega Drive. I checked the switch on the back to make sure it was in PAL mode and it was. Sonic 2 at least booted but the audio was playing at double the speed of the game and the sound effects were at a horrible high pitch. I gave up with the blasted thing and sent it back. Time to hit Ebay and get a real Mega Drive.

Well i got one of these new mega drives after my old one seemed to "get lost in the loft" so the mother says ah well it works well as a replacement console however id still buy an old mega drive if i see one its abit cheap and was kind of costy it wont play all the old games (most are fine just some) but its worth it of amazon as its cheaper than the shops still and a great bit of fun for them retro gamers out there whos mums said "whats this junk?" and got rid of your old game console id say go for it.
