About the Author

P.J. Owen grew up among the tree-lined streets of upstate New York's wine country. He split his childhood between schoolwork, exploring outdoors, reading the books of authors like Tolkien and Salinger, playing games like The Legend of Zelda, and devouring movies like The Goonies, Star Wars, and Indiana Jones.
As a teen he took to writing, short stories mostly, and song lyrics to perform with his largely unknown band. Later on, at the urging of his parents, P.J. studied business, and still operates two companies of his own.
At the ripe old age of thirty-five Owen made a decision to return to writing, and sat down to pen the story he had been playing in his mind all those years before, the stories that would eventually become the serialized middle-grade fantasy series, Seeking Daylight.
Owen continues to live in upstate New York, with his wife on their small horse farm, soaking in todays books, movies, and pop-culture. He can still be found exploring the outdoors and thinking up stories, if only for himself.

The first episode of Seeking Daylight is an exciting fantasy book; the story is well written and the author portrays a good adventure theme with some very creative writing. I think many different age groups can respect and enjoy this book and I am sure, with the release of future episodes in the series, this may even have the potential to be a classic in the fantasy genre. I think this book should be in every school library due to the fact that it is very well written while still also being very captivating to a younger audience. I think the younger generation could appreciate reading more if they had a chance to get a hold of this book. I am excited for the next books in the series.

Seeking Daylight, Episode 1 26 May 2013
By J.A. Franklin - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
The story focuses on a student by the name of Louis Witherspoon. He was sent away to a boarding school for gifted students by his mother and grandpa. Louis was in the fifth grade. His mother and grandpa believed this was truly a great opportunity for a good start in life for him. His family was seen as more so on the lower income level-especially since his father had mysteriously disappeared out of their lives. Louis's grandpa Andy worked at the academy he attended as a custodian. Occasionally, Louis would help him with his work--much to his dissent at times.
The Academy was now out for winter break and as much as Louis wanted to go somewhere prestigious for his vacation he knew his only option was to go home. Louis had a very tough time with the idea of his father disappearing out of his family's life within a blinking of an eye. Read how he dealt with this loss. This children's book(Episode 1) turns out to be quite the mystery. There's even a mystery map. The even bigger mystery was when Grandpa Andy suddenly disappeared without notice-just as his father did.
Right about now Louis is becoming confused and doesn't know how to react or feel. Find out how an ordinary backpack might possibly hold the clues as to how his relatives disappeared.. This children's story held my complete attention so you can imagine how exciting it would be for children.
Your child would enjoy reading this adventurous, amazing, and suspenseful story that has lots of twists and turns. This episode will leave you desiring more.

This author wrote an excellent puzzle/mystery story..It has clues hidden within that if you write them down and continue with the series you may be able to solve the riddle and help the 3 friends return to this world....This is about a lonely boy seeking fatherly love and friendship....This story is geared towards 8 to 10 yr olds, and a safe fantasy book....

Louis' father disappeared on his family many years ago...His Mom sent him to live with his grandfather because she couldn't take care of him...He stays in the small town and attends the elite "Hinsdale Academy School"...He his shy and only has 2 friends, Owen and Sophie....On winter break all 3 stay behind in the dormitory and explore the school....Before his grandfather disappears also, he tells a stange tale about Louis' father seeing things from another place as a child.....Leaves behind his father's skeleton keys, old medallion pendant, a map with a weird symbol, and a small old written journal....Louis will take all these clues, his 3 friends and go on an adventure to try find his grandfather that he misses so much......

Will they end up in a darkened world, scared and "Seeking Daylight"........

Well you need to read part 2 to find out...Don't forget to write down the rhymes and clues his father left him....
