Seek Joy ...Toss Confetti 22 April 2013
By MTK - Published on

At the end of Seek Joy ... Toss Confetti, the writer Brad Tesh states that he used no books or sources to write this book, but only his own mind and Divine Inspiration. I thought that was good to know, because I had the definite impression while reading the book that these authors were good at being joyful in their daily lives and also that their advice was rooted in experience and from the heart, as opposed to the book being a scholarly or sterile approach to the topic. I especially enjoyed the conversational back and forth between the two authors as they handed the narration off to each other, it made me feel as if they were there, talking to me. The crux of this book is that sometimes adults have to make a conscious effort to bring joy into their lives, or at least pay a modicum of attention as to what makes one joyful, and then consciously slot whatever that is into our days on an equal level to one's "to-do" list.

I especially enjoyed their inclusion of creativity as a good tool to break the monotony of our lives. I liked their statement that your creativity is not supposed to appeal to everyone else, so don't turn it into another area of your life where you, or others, rate your performance as good or lousy. (Sorry if writing this book was a form of creativity for the authors because they are going to have to see it rated on Amazon now!) This book offers a lot of advice to those trying to sift out what exactly brings them joy and offers a pretty low bar as to what you can define as joy in your life... your favorite song, your pet, even encouraging eating something you like if it brings you joy, without a lecture on using food as an emotional crutch. It also made me laugh out loud at this line: "If a mess happens, oh well, things happen." Not to say that this book is simplistic. It is not. It talks about disappointment and grief as a real part of life, too. It is full of a lot of bits of wisdom and was a joy to read.

Don't Miss The Trails of Glitter That Can Lead You to Joy! 20 April 2013
By M. Lukowski - Published on
Format: Paperback
Bonnie and Brad's book "Seek Joy ....Toss Confetti - Cue the Singing Tea Pot" is not only an inspiring title but an affirmation or mantra that I am adding to my daily "Desires" list that I have on my desk. Bonnie and Brad take us on a Joy Journey, asking the important questions around joy. Sometimes we may think joy and happiness are the same but surprising when you look at how they untangled the two, I felt the difference. In times of sadness there are glimpses of joy to be found that can bring us peace. We may not be able to be in a state of happiness all the time but we can be in states of joy. And joy can lead us to happiness.

I especially enjoyed the "Toss The Confetti" section after each chapter. Brad and Bonnie discuss how we can incorporate some simple but profound practices into our lives whether it be practicing joy, transforming sorrow, how to navigate the wheel of life, or living your strongest life.

This gift this book brings is that it takes us off autopilot, so we don't miss out on the joy in our life. Just as we drive our car and often suddenly arrive at our destination without any remembrance of the trip, it can be the same with our lives. We don't want to miss the trails of glitter that can lead us to joy and the fun of tossing confetti!

I'll end with a quote from their book that I love: "We have one life to live. So experience it. We can't please everyone around us all the time; we have to learn that. Once we accept that concept, we can live more joyfully."

Bright Blessings,
Maggie Lukowski

Tossing Confetti! 30 April 2013
By Mary Nale Attune Magazine - Published on
Format: Paperback
Each chapter gives us a conversation between Bonnie and Brad and at the end it's time to "Toss the Confetti" - lists of things to do to actively Seek Joy! It's surprising how many things we all take for granted or become so used to in our lives. This book is a wonderful way to become conscious of those joyful things or moments in our everyday life. If you know someone who is feeling depressed or experiencing sorrow this book just might give them that lift that they need.
I enjoyed reading this! I felt it was just what I needed in my life and I've made the choice to look for those happy little things that can connect me to a truly joyful life. I also felt as if I was sitting in the same room or on the phone with Bonnie and Brad as they talked about each and every topic in this book and yes, I can totally picture Brad tossing his confetti at the end of each chapter!
I love that they wrote such a happy book and still addressed very real issues at the same time.
Well done!

Such a marvelous book! Congratulations to Bonnie & Brad! Extremely well-written, almost as if you were both in the room with me. As I am still coping with the loss of my soulmate last year,to cancer it stands to reason that "Chapter 3-Transforming Sorrow" became not only my favorite chapter, but one that I find myself re-reading for the practical insight that I need to begin tossing some confetti again!
Thanks To Both Bonnie & Brad For A Fabulous Book!
