Book Description

When city-girl Amber arrives to spend the summer in a small village, the only stars she recognises are the ones she reads about in her glossy celeb magazines. So she is stunned to find herself surrounded by a new neighbours who organise their entire lives around constellation customs and the astral calendar. More scarily, Amber finds that the villagers actually believe that the stars and moon can work magic. Amber remains loudly sceptical, but as she's grown very fond of her new friends - especially the gorgeously enigmatic Lewis - and assuming that it's all a bit of harmless fun, she hurls herself into the star-ceremonies and moon-myths on the grounds that if you can't beat 'em, join 'em and any excuse for a party. But when, as result of one of Amber's half-hearted celestial incantations, something totally inexplicable happens, she begins to wonder if maybe, just maybe, there's more to magic than meets the eye...

Fiddlesticks is another magical (literally) and charming village from the creative mind of Christina Jones. Seeing Stars focuses on what happens when people assume they know what others are about, but fail to really see each other. It's fun how CJ manages to weave in the movement of the night skies in to the plot line, providing critical touchpoints. And I loved the nod to the 60's music scene too. The cast of characters is once again perfect, a wonderful and engaging novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly special book 25 Aug. 2012
By Megan ReadingInTheSunshine TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
I cannot describe how much I love this book! I enjoy all of Christina's novels but Seeing Stars will always have a special place in my heart.

It was such a magical story, took me on a wonderful journey and I couldn't put it down! The characters were fantastic! I really got behind Amber as she explored her new surroundings and adjusted to her new life. I fell in love with Lewis (who wouldn't?!), and the residents of fiddlesticks were so funny, warm and welcoming that I desperately wanted to move there and live with them!!!

My favourite novel by Christina Jones, she has truly excelled in this one and it's a truly beautiful, exciting, magical tale!

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical World...lovable characters! 15 Sept. 2009
I found this book by chance in my local library. I adore this little book, I had no idea what to expect from the title. I think the book comes under 'Chic Lit' but it so much more, the characters in this book come to life, the little village of fiddlesticks makes you wish you lived there. A young modern woman leaves her fast pace life behind and moves to a little village called fiddlesticks, she finds the people she meets very strange at first,
they all seem to believe in the magic of the moon and stars, and old traditions, they hold very amusing rites for these beliefs, to the bewilderment of the main character. But after a while she begins to fall in love with the loveable characters and starts to believe in the magic.......

I cannot say more without ruining the story. The book is well written, follows through and has a nicley finished ending. If you enjoy humour, great characters, an adorable setting and a bit of magic......I recommend this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Truely magical 15 April 2006
By Rachel
I picked this book up after reading Hubble Bubble and again was not disappointed. I loved the way it linked back to Hubble Bubble so I could see what had happened to Mitzi and her daughters!

I am pleased to see Christina has got 2 more books coming out this year and that they coincide with my holidays!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant as usual 13 Jan. 2011
By sibo
I love the way Christina Jones weaves her magic around her characters and this book is no exception, even if you haven't read the other books relating to Hazy Hassocks, Bagley-cum-Russet etc... and the people in the series you can find yourself drawn in to the storyline, if like me you have, then it is a delight to hear what has happened to them since we read about them last, and this book even mentions Sukie who is the main character in a future book. The storyline is great and there are all sorts of oddball characters and magical ideas alongside the Amber and Lewis story to keep you guessing. I can't recommend these highly enough and for those sceptics out there - try one - you will be hooked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really enjoyable. 21 Jun. 2007
I thought this was great, a good follow-on to 'Hubble Bubble'. Could really see the changes and developments of the characters and relationships. Looking forward to reading more of Christina Jones.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!! 21 Aug. 2005
This book is now retitled 'SEEING STARS' not the previously released, Fiddlesticks. (see forthcoming paperback page on Amazon uk). A truly fantastic read, a joy from beginning to end and, in my opinion, rivals the best from Christina Jones. A cast of wonderful characters, including some of the delicious eccentrics we have come to love and expect and which are so beautifully drawn and observed. I laughed and I cried - often at the same time!!!! It is also a deeply moving book, very romantic, and with a depth to it which was an added bonus. Marvellous in every respect with both younger and older characters and something for everyone. A classic Christina Jones novel and a must for anyone. The story links to the previous novel 'HUBBLE BUBBLE', with some of the familiar characters returning, but the book stands alone with its own central characters. There are two main storylines, one with Amber, a young city woman who moves to the village of Fiddlesticks and finds it something of an alien world!!! But she is soon drawn in to the magic of the village and the celestial celebrations the locals enjoy. She is also drawn to the gorgeous but enigmatic and mysterious Lewis. The other main storyline relates to Zilah, a woman in her fifties, whose past gradually unfolds as the book goes on. I can't say any more because it will spoil it for anyone who has not yet read the book! All I can say is read and enjoy, you will not be disappointed with this latest, brilliantly wonderful offering from Christina Jones. I cannot wait for the third in this connected series. First class, a definite winner that deserves to be a huge success. Buy it for all your friends.
