Product Description

With nothing but the clothes on his back—and something horrific snapping at his heels—Jack Winter fled his rural Georgia home when he was still just a boy. Watching the world he knew vanish in a trucker’s rearview mirror, he thought he was leaving an unspeakable nightmare behind forever. But years later, the bright new future he’s built suddenly turns pitch black, as something fiendishly familiar looms dead ahead.

When Jack, his wife Aimee, and their two small children survive a violent car crash, it seems like a miracle. But Jack knows what he saw on the road that night, and it wasn’t divine intervention. The profound evil from his past won’t let them die…at least not quickly. It’s back, and it’s hungry; ready to make Jack pay for running, to work its malignant magic on his angelic youngest daughter, and to whisper a chilling promise: I’ve always been here, and I’ll never leave.

Country comfort is no match for spine-tingling Southern gothic suspense in Ania Ahlborn’s tale of an ordinary man with a demon on his back. Seed plants its page-turning terror deep in your soul, and lets it grow wild.

3.0 out of 5 stars Had great potential...but.. 17 July 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Read the sample and thought, this could be good. However, the story had a real promise, but the book felt to me as though it was a short story. Whilst i really dont like 'padding' in a book, i feel this one lacked setting, and structure, and atmosphere in a lot of areas.
Not the scariest book you will read, but has some good moments.
I have just finished it and feel not enough questions were answered.
On the plus side, the book races from start to finish.
In conclusion, i feel a bit short changed with this book, it had real potential as a meaty story, i found the 'baddie' a little too laughable, could have been so much more. I wont be looking for the next book im afraid

Some seriously scary parts in this book that really creeped me out and left me not wanting to read the book alone! A bit on the short side, but I liked not getting boogged down in too much lengthy, pointless description. Definitely worth a go!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read from start to finish. 19 Oct 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I haven't read a horror book for years. I bought a kindle to download books that I wouldn't usually read and having *met* Ania on twitter I thought SEED sounded like a good book to start with.

I usually take a week to read a book, fitting it in around writing and work (and sport). I'd read about 40% of Seed and settled down to read some more. I couldn't put it down. It is very unusual for me to read more than half a book in one go but with Seed I HAD to keep reading.

The pace of the story kept me interested throughout and the different narrative strands are expertly woven together to create a very satisfying story. For me this was a definite page turner (or Kindle next page button clicker - that doesn't quite have the same ring does it!). I wanted to know about the characters and how the events panned out.

I needed to decide what rating to give the book. Given that I couldn't put it down it had to get the full 5* treatment. I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to all.

Well done, Ania! I look forward to more stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars Decent story, few typos
Story was enough to put the shivers into me, which rarely happens as an avid horror story reader. Only thing to lose a star was there was a few typos in the text on my kindle.

I enjoyed this book - it had the right mix of suspense and slightly weird to keep me intrigued. Quite dark - a little Stephen King like.

I fiund nothing in this book to excite me.

None of the characters were particularly sympathetic - which is something of an achievement by Ahlborn, as they include little... Read more
