Dave (Gene Wilder) is a deaf news-stand owner who hires Wally (Richard Pryor), a blind man, to work for him. However, when Wally's bookie comes to collect some money that he is owed the bookie is murdered by a woman, leaving Wally and Dave as particularly bad witnesses to the shooting.
