I was sad to hear of Jeff Healeys death recently. I remember going to see him live in the late 1980's and was hooked immediately. his energetic and unusual style was engrossing, and when he launched into 'see the light' which features on this album, it blew everyone away. I think this debut album remains his best work. I was looking forward to seeing him in London In April, promoting his new album which is a return to blues after his Jazz work of more recent years, but it is not to be. I hope the new album serves as a fittng epitaph.

This album is a must for any guitar fan. The blues/rock feel throughout and Jeff's sublime vocals blend to create one of those albums you just "can't turn off!" From the opening track 'Confidence Man,' which displays Jeff's awesome technical wizardry on the guitar, through to the classic blues track 'Hideaway,' the standard is exceptional. Softer songs such as 'Angel Eyes' also provide contrast to a thoroughly brilliant album. BUY IT.....NOW!!

Although I am a big fan of Road house, which was the only film the band starred in. I have to say that I found most of the songs although not poor, just didn't have the same sort of energy as the ones in the movie. It was good but not great, but for less than 2, I would say worth buying to make up your own mind.

I had this album on vinyl believe it or not. I bought it after seeing the Roadhouse movie and I remember being mesmerized by Jeff and played the album to death!! Well as time passed he got put in a cupboard and forgotten about. So after all that time I found the album but no turntable meant an upgrade (some might say down grade) to CD. WOW!!!! This album has not lost anything with the passage of time. It is still as powerful as ever and it could have been recorded last week. If you want to dip your toe in blues music, this would be an excellent place to start. I did and ended up with stuff by John Lee Hooker, B B King, Buddy Guy and loads of others. Sadly Jeff is no longer with us but he left us with a healthy back catalogue to explore which I would also recommend.

If you like Johhny Winter, SRV or Rory Gallagher then the chances are that you'll love this album too. Healey's playing was incredible. As a wannabe guitar God tried to learn some of his stuff. It was way to hard! Would recommend.

dude no one plays like this much, Jeff healey is an exceptional guitarist, I just love the way he plays soulful meaningful licks and tastful playing instead of just widdling.
the songs are tight bluesy, energetic and enjoyable to listen to the drums while straight forward are driving and stompy and drive the music forward and every direction it is suppose to go and the bass is melodic, rythmic and tight with the drums too
Jeff Healeys vocals are also pretty good and I always get a real sense of accomplishment from listening to this album for some reason it really makes you feel good

I first heard Jeff Healey playing While My Guitar Gently Weeps on the double sampler album of the same name. Being a fan of George Harrison and loving that particular track I was delighted to hear such a brilliant cover version.
When I looked up Jeff Healey on Wikipedia I was astonished to discover that he is blind and plays slide guitar horizontally. Notwithstanding, he is a guitarist of phenomenal ability.
